I listened to Zach Seyko's podcast last night. He said that PSU is all in on DeBoer at Alabama. He said that he was 100% confident that he was PSU's first choice but he didn't know if DeBoer reciprocated that interest. He was hoping Auburn would beat Alabama because that would have eliminated them from the playoffs and allowed him to make a move to PSU sooner. Then he surprised me by mentioning Lincoln Riley as a possible second choice.

Who is Zach Seyko?

I haven’t seen one person bashing him. It’s just a surprising choice. Half his team is from Utah and there’s ONE player from the east coast.
Correct. It’s not like East coast players are dying to go to BYU especially when they have no NIL. Had me sold when he got some studs to commit there instead of going elsewhere because they think he’s a great guy and good at developing players. Puka nacau speaks very highly of him.

It's not him it's just that he's the last-minute best guess. I should have stated it that way.

It's either Terry Smith or the mystery candidate which I put at 50-50 at best. If it's Terry Smith, we should know today or sometime tomorrow at the latest. If it's not Terry Smith, then they are praying hoping waiting for said mystery candidate to sign.
If you watched Terry’s press conference after the game, you know he is not getting the job.

Is there any real smoke to Josh Heupel? Seems crazy but I guess from a "easier pathway to the playoffs" it makes some sense and Tennessee is kind of buried in upper tier of SEC teams with a lot of other schools without much distinguishing them (you could say the same for PSU I suppose, but I think its a relatively clearer situation in the Big Ten and also less immediately recruiting competition in the local area). Also Heupal isn't a "good old boy" from the south so he might night have the attachment to there like some other SEC coaches.

I mean if Kiffin would leave Ole Miss for LSU, this doesn't seem that implausible.

I thought that was pretty obvious watching Terry throughout the game and that probably was also reflected in how the team played. He seemed down so I'm pretty sure he's been told the isn't getting hired.

Check out Wikipedia.

What I see is a coach who does what Kraft wants. He’s benched players for poor performance. He’s fired coaches for poor performance. He’s upset higher ranked teams. He’s had good seasons too. He looks like he has some qualities Franklin does not have, that would appeal to Kraft.

A coach from BYU with no ties to the east coast. Kraft is shi$$ing the bed big time. Just hire Hartline.
I’m sure he knows who he wants and is waiting on an answer….in the mean time, he has to keep interviewing in case that person says no. He can’t just snap his fingers and make someone take the job.

I thought he looked angry AF early on. So agree.

Thanks for the suggestion. Seems like he’s just a guy?
As is any guy with or without a microphone. But, Zach does have a degree from PSU in broadcast journalism. Focuses mostly on PSU football and wrestling. At times can be a little hot takish because he has a daily podcast, but I must say he did nail the Stan Drayton hire from the moment Ja’Juan Seider left for ND.

We are waiting. Kraft doesn't strike me as that brilliant. He failed at handling Franklin.

Deboer is the big catch they are trying to get an absolute yes. Sitake and Hartline are the backups if he says no. Best I can tell. Better learn about Sitake as he may be our next coach. I do not believe Chesney and Smith are actual candidates.
It would be a mistake for PSU to not sign Chesney. I think he would do better at PSU than at UCLA. I don't believe UCLA is willing to make the same $ commitment and Oregon, USC, and Washington are more entrenched in west coast recruiting.

I have a hard time believing that so many coaches "turned us down". Could be the blue and white glasses, but I think it's more likely that the person has been locked in and Kraft is waiting for something (end of regular season, CCGs, etc.) to make the announcement.

I'd be happy with Chesney or DeBoer but at this point I have ZERO clue as to what is really going on with the search and want it to end so the new coach can get started trying to salvage recruits and work the portal. I'm doubting whether I can believe much of anything I hear or read here... the stories are changing way too frequently.

That’s been my take. If you aren’t getting a hire like DeBoer - which always seemed unlikely - then Chesney is a solid option. Honestly I like him more than any of the SEC hires (except Kiffin who I couldn’t see at PSU).

That's like saying Kiffin’s not available
He is...the timing just sucks
Think about who you are talking about and Ole Miss has been a shoe in for the playoffs so a decision had to happen and was forced. Krafty probably telling Chesney we will wait a week for you but if you do get in we need you to leave.

“"After a lot of prayer and time spent with family, I made the difficult decision to accept the head coaching position at LSU," Kiffin said in a statement Sunday.”
