I love Joe's Grand Experiment and "Success with Honor but those are dated ideas now. It's just mercenary football now with a race to the top funded by well healed donors. There is no focus on academics, loyalty or anything grandiose. It's all about winning, making bank and raising ticket prices on loyal fans, a lot of whom cannot even afford it anymore
Because of a few days? …and the recruiting class has been gone…and the ones that have been here can not beat good teams, anyway.
My apologies. One P5 school doesn't have a coach, but it's been less than 24 hours, not 52 days, and they already seem to be narrowing down their search.
We tapped out after COVID. The 400 mile trips, multi-night stays and seat prices just got to be too much on retirement income. But the real topper was the administration still refusing to honor Joe 10 years after Sandusky. We got a large TV and have adapted. Still miss tailgating but life moves on
I'd like to think there's a little bit of that left - in almost every school and their players. Not a whole lot though.
I know this was a joke but in all seriousness I think the LDS leadership clarified the rules so that caffeine in soda is OK but hot drinks like coffee and tea are still forbidden. At least that was my understanding
Those are not the main reasons he was fired that's what you say when you don't intend to publicly out a traitor and risk a lawsuit. It has been well documented on this board the reason's he was fired something some people ignore because it doesn't fit their narrative.

He would probably say the same thing whether he’s really interested in the Penn State job or if he has no interest and just wants BYU to pony up some more money. If he was definitely staying and not looking for more money then he would say “I’m not leaving”, especially being so close to signing day.
Maybe in the Ivy's and some D1 schools where kids know they have no shot at big NIL or NFL futures which makes them more focused on getting everything they can academically from their 4 years. But the difference is that it's now focused 100% on the individual making the decision to prioritize academics. We'll never have another Sue Paterno tutoring kids on the Classics or Joe pushing kids to become doctors and lawyers and no school will care about grad rates. Meet the minimum APR and you are good to go
LSU, Florida and now UCLA have made announcements in the past few days, so they apparently think a few days makes a big difference.
Not buying it for now. Not saying contact wasn't made but that article makes it sound as though these talks are most resent which would be not good for timing at all. To me this would be a 50-50 thing of being smoke screen stuff. Can't wait to here what's said when reporters question him.

He recruits at a religious school where his roster is heavily skewed towards that religion and almost exclusively Utah and West. It's a dry campus with an honor code that runs very counter to student life at Penn State.
He isn't going to bring a bunch of his own players with him and he's going to have to recruit an entirely different set of kids geographically and culturally than he's used to.

Other than Brohm, Sitake has better numbers than any of the other coaching options when considering doing more with less:

They're out there. For every 3 or 4 families that are drooling over NIL money, there's at least one that is simply proud that Junior is playing at State U, and thankful that it's free of cost.
And thus why its time for me to give em up after 35+ years , if I want to go to a game I will buy via secondary market and try to remember the old days and traditions we had with my kids when they were young or more recently the tailgating traditions we built.
Too many people sending in more money than me making decisions I don't want to be a part of (not that I had any say anyway), they can do without my --'X' and rising--- per year participation.

Trust me, I prefer Hartline but Sitake wins--that's all I care about. I'm sure he'll build a staff with ties to the area. Dude is very likeable.

Super--I feel better that he's likable and a nice guy. That will win games. You can be the best coach in the world but if you ain't got the talent then you are an also-ran. Recruiting is going to nose-dive and I'm not even including this year's class.
