The OL with BO’B as HC and Mac McWhorter as OL coach was very good. I liked the OL play under McWhorter a lot.
Yeah he did a good job before retiring to his farm in Georgia. Not the football expert that some of you guys are but I’ve long felt OL is the toughest position to coach. Much more technical than people realize. Getting 5 guys all to do their jobs at the same time in synchrony is difficult at best.

Agree completely. Most complex position group on the team.

Plus having the ability to recognize stunts, blitzes and other sundry defensive schemes meant to exploit offensive line play.

I think part of the hangup with Poindexter right now is that Franklin wants him on his staff. There’s talk that he may be bumped to the DC depending on what they do with pry.

I haven’t heard that it’s 100% yet, but I knew it was an option. Poindexter may still leave and go with them, but he’s got to sit down with a new DC first.
I’m a huge fan of Dex. Followed him closely when he was at UVA - I was at the famous game when he stuffed Warrick Dunn at the goal line to end FSU’s long ACC win streak. He was a stud - 3 time all ACC and 2 time AA. Stayed for his senior season and wrecked his knee. He would have had a long NFL career with All Pro teams in his future - he was awesome.

So I hope good things come to him

I can’t remember if it was 1st year or 2nd year under O’Brien but Zach Zwinak had over 1k rushing yards. That was last time I remember the offensive line pushing people around and in my opinion it hasn’t happened since.
You must have missed this year’s Nebraska and Rutgers games.

The 2019 OL with Journey Brown at RB was pretty physical as well.
I actually agree with that 19 assessment as well. That actually brings up painful memories of what Journey Brown could’ve been without the cardiac issue. And I also agree with others that after Franklin left this year, the OL looked a lot better.

I think part of the OL looking better after Franklin left is because they stopped rotating OL players so much. They went with the 5 top guys.

They also committed to the run and a more pro style offense as AK was forced to stop his nonsense or at least limit it.

I would be happy with Hank Poteat.

Honestly I’ve never been impressed with Traut as an offensive line coach and I feel like the offensive line play hasnt been good in forever probably since Bill o Brien. I could be just delusional though 😂

First year. Problem is they did not play him til about game four when the team already lost to Ohio bibcats and Virginia. Zwinak started the season fifth string.

He was a FB/LB at the start. Got labeled due to being white. Saw him in HS, he should have been given opportunity to play RB before he finally was, for sure.

Actually I thought the team ran the ball pretty well after they committed to it later in the season.
They were pulling and blocking very well freeing Allen and Singleton to run through some big holes. Their straight on blocking was average.

The 2012 OL under Mac McWhorter was very good. Paris Palmer played for Franklin

Who coached the 2012 Virginia game? Leading runner had 20 carries for 40 yds.

Ps. The 2012 team had 1700 yds, 3.7 ypa, 18 tds.. The 2025 team had 2100 yds, 5.0 ypa and 30 tds.

How do you think their line would have been if they had half as many OL on scholarship, started two DTs at guard and then started a juco who wasn't ready?

Sanctions were over but the 4 and 5* players didn't transfer back. The 2*s who flipped from Toledo, UMass, and so on were still here.
