Typical BGJ bullshirt if he had the opportunity to hire Lynn last year and picked that year's shiny object to chase after instead. Gimmicky nonsense is not good, sustainable football.

It's just not all that complicated most of the time. Know your assignment, make your reads, make a play, and TACKLE! If it takes three freaking years to 'understand your system' your system sucks.
He may have had the desire - but I doubt if he had the opportunity (that would, obviously, require Lynn being willing to accept).
No "inside information" per se, and not definitive, but just one semi-informed reading of the tea leaves.

Drawing up X's and O's is pretty much the same at any level the difference is the talent and speed at which the game is played. Like Franny Ganter used to say it's not so much about the X's and O's but more about the Jimmies and the Joes. However the one big difference between the two leagues is the Big Tens ability to viciously run the football. As always the game is won and lost in the Land of the Giants.
Actually it was Paterno as I recall who said that

His roster was horribly mismanaged. His game day coaching was bush league. His leadership was non existent. His coaching staff was woefully inept in the most vital areas of the modern game.

His stench is being cleaned up and jettisoned into the sky by a real, talented, and respected brand new coaching staff and anyone left over supporting his fake *** can kick rocks. It's finally over and we finally have a coaching staff AND new roster we can be proud of.
Should I order my Big Ten and National Championship tickets for next year now or wait?

The BIG Champ game definitely shifted my opinion of them. Kind of reminded me of some of the old JoPa teams, sort of suffocating OSU and just not letting them ever get going. Still not sold IU is here to stay, but the beginning of the end hasn't show up yet. Life without Mendoza will be the real test.
Will be interesting to see what QB they pick up from the portal for 2026.

Lynn turned us down last year and got a raise from USC. I think his interest this year might be more of a reflection of what he thinks of Franklin...

I don't think I was aware of this, really - but sounds like the older guard of letterman never really bought all the way in with BGJ.
I read/heard somewhere, maybe a Tengwall podcast, that if you looked on the sidelines on gamedays the returning lettermen that were coming back to visit were former Franklin era players, and not many players from eras before that were returning. I didn't notice this and watching on TV makes it tough to see who's on the sideline. The suggestion was that there was still a rift was there with the older lettermen, but no reason was given.

The King Mack comments about the leaked audio this week also suggest that there were issues in the locker room and with team leadership. Things seem messier than perhaps we were aware of. Hopefully Campbell can fix that.

I am trying to think what cookie company would be ran by an SC grad? I was thinking something phony and pretentious but CRUMBL was already taken 😂

I was impressed about how smart and tough they were. Yup - taking us back to those 77ish to 87ish teams

If Franklin was still around MeatCheatagin could be coachless for 10 months and he still would lose to them.

His game strategy and planning were pathetic as evidenced by his horrible big game record but you are right he mismanaged the roster. No linebackers, no physicality on the DLine equals crap pass rush. And he couldn't manage or lead the two coordinators he overpaid.

Is D’Anton Lynn off the table?
From a national site. Lynn's issue is that USC wants PSU to pay the buyout, PSU is negotiating
for a lower buyout. In the meantime USC wants Texas's former DC Pete Kwiatkowski as their DC.

Bottom line from what i interpret Lynn could hold out, causing Pete K, to get another job, or SC
releasing the big buyout for Lynn. Everyone wins or loses.

How much is the buyout?

I suppose we’re back to the drawing board for DC. We truly must not be able to afford the buyout, which makes sense as we’re carrying Franklin (renegotiated, but still significant) and Knowles already. It is concerning that we have not named a DC yet so close to the portal.

It looks like Lynn showed up for USC practice today. Of course if a deal isn't in place he would do that. But if the deal isn't in place today...
