Another TeamUSA freshman...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_bjCFVWBCMU

Expect at least one more in the coming weeks from that class with TeamUSA, a linebacker that has visited us already with Washington for the Arkansas game...

It's a hell of a long time till signing day, but I'm glad that we've got these kinds of kids in the boat this early. The beauty is that these types of players walk onto campus ready to go on day 1. They are training at the highest possible level in highschool with the best possible coaching. There will be as small as possible of a learning curve of the college game for these guys.

I love that we are going after these guys early. Can we please check and make sure none of them have older brothers that we need to sign in the meantime.

I'll concede that these two are worth the time it takes. From the looks of it they are most likely 5* caliber players. However there is absolutely something to lose when you miss on a player you've recruited for 5 years. It's a risk. A big one imo. There's more tasks for a football coach to handle in one day/week/month/year. Something gets pushed back or becomes less important every day. They all decide what is most important to accomplish.

It's just like any business. Accomplish what's most pertinent first and then move on to the next one. If you agree there's already too much for one coach to accomplish anytime you add something on the "to-do" list then you also agree something else gets pushed back.

I guess you can call me pessimistic on this topic but I am not focusing on the reward of actually getting these two players to play for MSU, all I am seeing is all the time and money added up over 5 years that went to 2 players that never play a down for MSU that could of been spent on any of the other 1,000 things each MSU coach has to accomplish in order to be a successful NC striving team. That's all. But again I'll concede these two are worth the risk.

Good post... I think everyone can wholeheartedly agree with your points on this.

If we can get one guy that firmly in the boat(Washington), and sold on the school, not the individual coaches, it should make recruiting the rest of them pretty easy. So, basically, Washington is already opening doors for us in the world of recruiting that have probably never been open to MSU before with ELITE prospects at a very young age. While it could end up pretty disastrous long-term for us if we lose them all after spending a ton of time recruiting them, the risk is definitely worth the reward as you said. The beauty is that these kids are constantly around the best-of-the-best and recruiting for us.

Washington also has a younger (i believe) cousin named Aapri Washington who is in the class of 2017 that wants to go to school with Robert, and will commit to us whenever we offer him. He started at cornerback for teamUSA's 15u team @ 13 years old. Washington has either a coach or family member that posts on 24/7 and keeps everyone updated on his progress. Wow, good info. Engie, you should do a weekly recruiting update. Even if there isn't a ton of new info week to week, it would be cool to see how things progress from now until signing day. I too think this could be our best recruiting year ever, so I'm very interested in the movements made day to day and week to week. Either way, thanks for the information

I like what we are doing

With Team USA. We have always had trouble getting national recruits, and we have to think outside the box and out work everyone else to get these types of recruits. Getting on these recruits at a young age could be the answer for us, much like Jackie thinking outside the box in the 90's and bringing in a lot of JUCO players.

I also like that Team USA is a legit organization with NFL ties- this isn't your sleazy Byron DeVinner/Scott Lindsey run seven on seven team that we're talking about here. Which means minimal risk of getting in trouble with the NCAA.

I am impressed with the coaching that I saw on these videos in terms of fundamentals.

We need to get as many of these Team USA guys as we can, and then add in our Mississippi kids with them- we could be cooking with gas.

Exactly Todd. These kids will go to college more ready from a football perspective than almost any other prospects anywhere. Tremendous coaching and competition with what they are doing.

This coming year Washington and O'Donnell will kick up to the -17 team. When they do that, they will be hanging out with prospects in the 2015 class. Hopefully, that opens up a few doors for us in the older recruiting class, which will be rising juniors and well within the normal range for a team like us to start recruiting nationally elite types of players.

Update:

We have now offered Washington and O'Donnell's teamUSA teammate, also a 2016 athlete from North Carolina, Moe Neal. Could easily jump in the boat soon with his two buddies. This guy is already being recruited by handful of schools, but we were his first offer. Scored 15 TDs in 3A public school ball in NC as a freshman. Splits time at WR and RB.

I love it...If nothing else, we are going to be talked about at every camp these guys attend until they graduate.
