according to my professor today. Apparently earlier in the year we weren't sure if we would break 20k but it seems like it's pretty sure fire now.

That whole on-campus area beside the round-a-bout (where the Shell station and 21 apartments are) has all been demolished and is just a big construction area. Not sure how many dorms/ new living facilities are going there. Also, I heard Aiken Village is about to be completely re-done or possibly even demolished and just rebuilt.

The new residence halls going in place of Arbour Acres will be Arbour Halls 1 and 2 and will have around 780 beds total. Aiken Village will be demolished in January and plans are not finalized for what will be done with the site

and the original projections were to have over 26k on campus students by 2020... Appears that the school is on pace, if not ahead, of that goal. I was on the original student committee, and the thought behind it was to 1) Bring enrollment up to par with other SEC Institutions, 2) Increase academic capabilities and outside corporate donations, 3) Increase alumni over time, and 4) Which in the end would increase donations and potential for ticket sales. This all would allow us to compete with every other SEC institution in any area, academically or athletically. I think it took finding the correct people up top and the correct athletic hirings to get the plan rolling, but it appears that we are well on our way to reaching all goals.

Glad to see that all those meetings are finally coming to fruition. And glad to see the Football Stadium expansion is going to happen before originally planned.

We should be looking at 25k students in 2015. That's assuming a 5% growth for the next four years.

I was on the original 20 year master plan student committee, and that was the original goal (26k by 2020). It seems like the current leadership has sped up this enrollment. But with greater enrollment, a stadium expansion would seem more feasible. Increase capacity by 15-20k and enrollment by 8k and you can sell more student tickets. I think we are headed in the right direction. Just hope a consecutive winning season escalates the expansion.

The impression that I get is that we're going to be constantly building/renovating something for the next few years. Do you think that the demand is going to be big enough to make a new hall right after this one goes up?

but I'm not sure if that will happen any time soon. Housing is already tight enough and if they don't get more beds, our attendance won't keep growing like it is. Problem is they can only fund a couple of projects at a time and, although Evans won't put a huge dent in housing's ability to room students, taking away Rice for a year certainly will (630 beds or something like that). That's more than half of Zac Village (1200 Beds). <div>
</div><div>I imagine that whole area behind Rice will become another Northeast Village in the next 5 years or so. </div>

to accommodate increased enrollment. It all depends on how quickly they will use these funds. I believe we still have more land on the East side of the Sanderson Center and surrounding dorms to build more, if needed. Also, the old intramural fields were designated as potential housing. I think they will find space if needed before plans have shown.

The requirements do not change year to year. We accept everyone in-state that meets requirements and there is no maximum.

Ole Miss gets a ton of OOS kids because they didn't get into UGA, TEXAS, etc... We're getting them too just now in the same amount yet. Many states have limited growth at their traditional marquee universities. Here in Georgia Kennesaw State, West Georgia, and Georgia State are growing like crazy. UGA is just raising their standards to only accept the very highest qualified students, and not growing as rapidly as a result.

If my choice was West Georgia/Kennesaw State or going to an SEC school that's very affordable I'd be going out of State.

They'er doing nothing but cleaning up the rubble, putting up fences, ect. Also, they should be done putting up the ribbons on the east side. If not, they'll finish today.

So we only have 15,000 in Oxford? Ive heard 17,500 over and over, but I guess that's including the satellite mentioned under the 15k. 2,500 seems like a lot for satellite schools though.

The Hope Scholly is packing UT and MTSU to the point of having to reject kids. This is obviously good news for us. Thus, I, too, would imagine the ACT scores would only increase by accepting those OOS kids. I'm also glad we're on top of making the growth happen. I do NOT want us to just become what MTSU has become: a large JC-like school. Their campus is turrble and buddy. It's so generic that one cannot tell where they're at.

but is that just a goal or sort or a stopping point? Your campus is so big that it may not needs a cut off number, but I see no way our campus could hold anymore than 20k. We have 6k parking spots and force all 15,500k to purchase one and give them a ticket if they don't find one of the 6k spots. It's quite the scam. We would have to force the IHL to raise our standards to slow down growth. Do you think state would do that since we'll probably hit 20k when y'all hit 25k or close to it, or just continue to grow?

I was in the biggest class ever in 06. I cant remember the eact number, but i tbought it was around 4k. I've heard many other "biggest classes ever" since then. You'd figure we'd average at least 4k each class. Then add in 5th/6th year seniors, grad students, and law students and you'd think that would be at least 2k. I saw we lose 20% of each incoming class to grades so that might be wiping out all the grad and law students extra number/ that they bring
