New Jumbotron videos: does everyone else hate these as much as me?

In the recent games - maybe it started against LSU, but definitely against ole miss and auburn - we've played some new videos on the jubotron to get the crowdcheering. The only one I've noticed before the Auburn game was a DE-FENSE chant featuring Elgin that sounds like "DEE-FEHHN." And tonight I noticed one tonight that featured the entire team in a circle jumping up and down- I'm not sure what they were trying to promote / encourage. It seemed to me like in this one, no one was dressed the same. Someone had on a jersey, someone was in warmups, someone in an Under Armor shirt... I was too confused by this to listen to what they were saying.

I think these are ridiculous. I know alabama uses videos similar to this, and I think I remember seeing some at Auburn last year, too. Whenever I saw them at opposing venues, they looked so stupid and I was glad we didn't have anything like that. Now I am embarassed whenever they pop up on the big screen.

What say you?

Side note:just asweak tonightwas the Video Vault: Timmy Bowers. There were 3 or 4 clips, andall werefrom that 04 game against Kentucky. Seriously. You're doing a highlight reel for Timmy Bowers, but notincluding either of his game-tying or overtime game-winning shots in Tuscaloosa to winour firstoutright SEC Title in 40something years. It was kind of a big deal.

that they almost always 17 up the audio for the intro video. Today it was just silence (at least, I couldn't hear anything in the upper deck) for the first 10 seconds of the video. Everyone in the crowd just kind of sat there. It was awful.

I noticed the one with the players jumping up and down. They all looked to be holding back laughter because they all knew how stupid it was. I'm OK with the Elgin one because it at least gets the weak *** crowds (which have become the norm for the Hump) to make some noise. I was thinking the same thing about the Bowers "highlight" footage. At least the correct last name was said.

I've also noticed the players looking up at the 'tron when the Elgin video is up there, laughing. I don't want anything that distracts the players, but at least it gets the crowd cheering.

Yeah, what was it? Darryl Watson? Williams? Absolutely pathetic. Hank Flick would not have made that mistake.

Some of the videos are silly and we shouldn't have them, but my biggest complaint is how loud the music is. I want the music to be pretty loud, but when ever music is playing I literally have to scream to talk to the person sitting next to me.

Stans has told Mr. "Bizzle" to keep it loud.... If you can't handle the audio level, maybe you should stay at home...

maybe Stan's can talk all the students into attending the games to fill up the Hump since us old farts can't stand the noise. ;)

is that our True Maroon and Great Moments videos never match up who we are playing. For example, at the Ole Miss game, the Great Moment was Bowers against Alabama. I can name 5 great moments against Ole Miss without thinking that hard. At the Alabama game in football, the Great Moment was the 1991 Egg Bowl, at the Egg Bowl, it was the 1980 Bama game. The True Maroon is by far the worst, seeing Scott Westerfield's kick against Kentucky before the Egg Bowl actually made me mad. How can you not show the 1999 Egg Bowl?

I completely agree with you. There is some serious lack of creative insight in our audio visual department.

This new guy is just a typical announcer. We had a voice that set us apart from the rest of the same ole deep voice announcer. Half the time you can't even understand what this new guy says. The other half he doesn't even say it right. If you are going to be an announcer at a major university, you should know how to pronounce every players name....especially one of the greats.

Those 2 videos are the least of our worries. The intro video sucks ***, along with the music, but at least its not the Pirates of the Caribbean theme song. The whole presentation just has no rythm. I don't mind the music being loud, but I do mind the 17'in blue hairs leaving the game when we're down 2 under 2 minutes left, and at the end of regulation. Seriously, there were tons of old 17ers just filing out. If you're gonna do that, why do you even come? With fans like that, no wonder we don't have more success.

So many of them were leaving at the end of regulation I wondered if they thought the game just ended in a tie. It was awful

During the Georgia game, at the 12:00 timeout, they played some sort of video about Rhodes. Even had Holmes talking about it. Only one problem: that was the big recruiting weekend where Dan Mullen and the recruits walked in The Hump at the 12:00 timeout. I can imagine the conversations before and after:

- head guy: "Okay team, this Saturday's player video is Charles Rhodes. Here's a preview."
(plays video, team applauds)
- head guy: "We're all set to play this at the 12:00 timeout, just like we have all the other videos."
- peon: "Uh, boss? Coach Mullen and the football recruits are scheduled to come in at the same time."
- head guy: "So?"
- peon: "I don't think anyone will be paying attention to it."
- head guy: "Nonsense. Everyone loves Chuck. Now Jonathon, you got that trivia question?"
- Holmes: "This says 'Williams'. It's supposed to b..."
- head guy: "Right. Good meeting everyone. See you Monday."
(general confusion amongst the group)

- head guy: "Wow. Did you hear the response that Rhodes video got? A standing ovation!"
- peon: "Uh, boss?"
- head guy: "What?!"
- peon: "Never mind."

And a tip to the crowd: When a player (Bost) is waving his hands up and down on defense it means to make 17ing noise and not sit on your ***.
