Apparently, Whitehead won't be at Ole Miss' camp this weekend because his grandmother passed away. Yancy felt like he needed to verify this information as legitimate. He needs a good head punch.

then most of the Spirit recruiting readers would spark 80 million different MSU conspiracy theories about how Gene carried a sack of dead presidents to Melvin Smith, who placed it in Whitehead's mailbox, and had Steve report in his chat that Ole Miss was the one who left it there...

Shortly after, most of those readers will have ridden a refrigerator to the bottom of Sardis lake in utter dispair.

I just have a feeling. It's going to be a fun ride.

I think this is a banner year for talent in Mississippi. There is more talent this year getting attention from the in-state schools and more talent getting attention from major out of state BCS programs than usual, so I expect it to get nasty with all the head to head battles that will go on for real top priority type talent.

Brasell, Singleton, CJ Johnson, Moncrief, Morris, Bell, Pinkston, Morrow, Arrington, Prewitt, Whitehead, Faciane, Golson, Maiden, PJ Jones, and that's not really all of them. I'd say there are at least 20-25 solid BCS level prospects in the state this year. Normally it's only about 12-15, so I expect it to get ugly as we get close to signing day. January is going to be rife with rumors, cheating accusations, and all that fun. The good news for both of us is that in recent years we've seemed to stem the flow of top prospects out of state. If we can do that again, we both stand to land pretty good classes.

Are there really that many more true SEC-caliber prospects in MS than usual, or have more marginal recruits been over-hyped by the recruiting sites? The overabundance of recruitint sites has gotten way out of hand.

but I'm hopeful there's more than usual. Since we signed 19 Mississippi kids last year, I hope there were more than usual last year as well.

Ole Miss wants to do well in-state. MSU will concentrate on in-state kids. Thus, the sites HAVE to say there is more talent than normal.

WR's and DB's. And there are 2 very good LB's. But there are no QB's except Miller and his only BCS offer is from Ole Miss. There are no RB's which is very rare for MS. And it's a pretty poor year for the DL. People like PJ Jones, but he is a little bit of a tweener. Maiden is listed as aDT, but a lot of people like him better as an O-linemen.

I liked the 2009 class a little bit better because it was well rounded.

The Clarion-LIAR will try to cover it up, though.

Finebaum Jr was too busy spreading Bullfraud BS on his "call-in show".
