Sumrall HS pitcher Jared Miller committed to MSU. He is teammates of another MSU commitment, Chase Lewallen. Miller is supposed to be pretty legit. According to the Clarion Ledger, Miller went 11-0 on the hill for his senior season and Sumrall went 36-0 and finished ranked in the top 15 in baseball america.

I knew Sumrall had an extremely good season, but I saw where they were ranked number 4 in the nation for a couple of weeks.

this late in the season so I'm pleased that we went after a MS player that did so well. Hopefully, he can turn out to be a find.

Miller was one of the guys I really wanted us to pick up. He really matured as a senior, and came on the scene this year. He also had an offer from USM. If he has an issue, he may need to watch his weight- he's at 220 right now and I think he is in the 6'2"-6'3" range.

I've heard that he tops out at 91 and can possibly be a two way player for us as a relief pitcher/corner OF/DH.

Edit to say that I hope that we get his teammate, Jackson Posey next. Hopefully having Chase Luwallen and now Miller will help.

I'm not a fan of Juco's. But I like the pick up.

We need pitching and this guy can get some outs. May not start, but he can pitch situationally at worst.

My concern for next season is pitching, pitching, pitching.

You can't count on all freshman so next season will have some growing pains. But with some quality pitching, we can be a good team.

There is quite a way to go, but for the first time in a while, I feel we are pointed in the right direction.

with exception. The exception being a guy like a Runey Davis or a Patrick Palmeiro. The other exception being a situation like ours where the previsous coaching staff had our teams going in cycles- An almost all Fr. team, all So. team, all junior team, and then finally senior laden, then tear down, rinse repeat. The best thing that the JUCO's bring in our case is experience and maturity.

We're going to lose a lot of position players in a year or so- like Sneed, maybe Cody Freeman, maybe Jet Butler, maybe Ryan Powers, Collins, Adkins, and any JUCO guys that we bring in are fair game. So, I expect this next class to be heavy on high school guys that are position guys like Chase Luwallen, Garrett Pitts, and CT Bradford. Then get as much pitching as you can- like McMahon and hopefully Daryl Norris.

But I prefer guys that can come in as Fr. and you can develop them and are good enough to potentially come in right away and help you. The guys that go to JUCO go JUCO for a reason. And it's not always to try to improve their draft stock, unfortunately.
