New Mugshots location

I think it's been discussed here that Mugshots is moving to Russell Street. There are signs up next to the McAllister's shopping center, looks like they're building some condos on top of it.
My question is regarding parking, because it doesn't look to me like they're really adding any. If that's the case it's going to be a real headache- that shopping center already has parking issues.
Is anyone familiar with what's going on over there?

There's a parking garage behind the Mill next door. That's also used for the Marriott though, so could be an issue on busy weekends.

Good lord. If I'm a developer, I'm shoveling funds to the Ath Dept to make sure they keep Mullen in town. Imagine the luxury apartment market after back-to-back 3-4 win seasons.

collectively, and build as many nice things as we can, so the town keeps getting better and doesn't shut down if we do have a bad season or two.

I mean, I agree with you in general, that's the way it usually goes... I'm just thinking that we could/should try to change the mindset.

Oxford is no different than any college town in reality, but I gotta admit they have created a market. I'm almost jealous of the people that go there every weekend, whether the football team is playing or not. They have done some good things. I love to go hang out in Starkville on the weekends. We just need to keep adding cool stuff so I have reasons to do it more.

I'm all for it. I just know developers aren't going to take the risk unless the reward is extreme. Half a mill for 1500 sq ft is a pretty good reward. That's been Starkville's problem as a whole. The risk/reward hasn't been there to take the plunge. If they can sell enough luxury apts to create a cool vibe, I'm all for it. I just know that A LOT of it hinges on the football team winning 8-10 games a year.

Worst case scenario, there end up being a lot of very nice but economical apartments/townhomes available in Starkville sometime in the next decade.

And you're right that if Starkville builds and sells enough $200+ / sq ft apartments, the type of people that buy those will have a lot of spillover effects as far as more/nicer restaurants, shopping, activities, etc. Especially as people start to treat them as weekend homes and/or retirement homes and not just places for sports events.
