C-bones,

I totally agree! Hopefully, this does, indeed, come to fruition. I do not quite understand the "sub sectional" seeding for the other sports? Can you explain it?

In basketball now, would Raider still had been playing Plainfield East in the B-ball playoffs? Or would those teams be in different sectionals?

In baseball, would Rita/MC/Larry or Naperville Central/North/NV/WV be knocking each other out of the baseball playoffs or would those schools be in different sectionals?

I dont know how any of this works... as long as 7A and 8A are 1-32 then I'm a-okay

This all comes from the original 1-32 proposal that was brought forward heading into the football state playoffs last year. Proposal was all set to go until IHSA uppity ups wanted to look at this IHSA sport wise so that's why it was killed.

The same proposal I've been telling the Nation side was in the works and was going to happen. Sure, it will take a year longer than I expected but.....

I wonder how much of this also falls in line because Hickman is stepping down? He's been one of the biggest proponents of the current football seeding process, the multiplier and the goofy messed up predetermined regionals for non bracket sports.

Regardless it's nice to see the ship getting righted. 1-32 should've stayed that way all along. And the non-bracket predetermined regional hosts stuff needs to go as well.

I am happy to hear how they would be looking at the sub-sectional seeding for all sports.

Baseball and Basketball have some extremely loaded regionals that see very good teams eliminated in a regional semifinal or regional final.

For instance, a 2A basketball regional down south had Nashville, Breese Central, and Mater Dei, all of which were garnering votes or in the top 10 in 2A statewide polls, in a five team regional.

Newt,

In many cases and in particular this one it all started at the NFHS level. They all started talking about this geographical junk after one in particular inspiring national meeting. They generally all drink the NFHS kool aid whether it's right or wrong.
