We don't have the room for a bigger class since we're loaded with freshmen and sophomores. We will hit the portal for immediate needs which is actually more important at this juncture
We will see Rhule stick his foot in his mouth when he said they now have enough funding to go get anyone they want. We will see
We need to get rid of some of the unproductive players to make even more room. Cam Lenhardt, Tristan Alvano and Kwinten Ives immediately come to mind. I’m sure there are others.

I know we have a lot of fans that love the old "This guy really developed into something" story...but if you are not on the two deep by your 2nd/3rd year, you just don't need to be on the team anymore.

I'm done believing in this star bullchit. For years, including this year, we get our butts kicked repeatedly by teams with worse "talent." Are Minnesota and Iowa loaded with 4-5 stars? Nope. They're just better coached and play harder and there's no end in sight.

Honestly, pushing through the fog of malaise and depression, it really did look like we were 2 stud DT away from winning two more games this year. Probably didn't need studs, just two reasonably competent run stopping DT's. That just makes me angry, because it should've been obvious to everyone involved.

It was a compliment to EJ and his efforts. Dude was buried in the depth chart until the end of the last season. I was only responding that players develop and it doesn’t make sense to give up on them after two years. I don’t think this was a controversial take and EJ was right in front of us an example.
yes, you did miss it. EJ was 2nd string as a redshirt frosh. He had 90 carries. The starter had 104 carries.
I think Deion has run off most of his roster depth and might be limited in NIL dollars to offer transfers. He’s a dead man walking. On the other hand our roster is loaded with freshmen and sophomores and we need mature portal players. Different situations.
I know it’s the way it is, but it still bothers me when we have to process guys. Once a Husker Always a Husker (unless you crap on us) used to mean something to me
HS lineman : need to make 2-deep within 3 years
HS other : need to make 2-deep within 2 years
Portal : need to make 2-deep in first year
Anyone not meeting this standard is wasting space.
We’ve had lots of starting O linemen who never cracked the 3 deep until their redshirt junior year. Hard fast rules are bound to be broken.

Those teams have lots of starters who were 4 star players. Iowa picked up a QB who won multiple national championships at SDSU. Where we’ve suffered is in our lines more than anything. Ideally guys who are sophomores and freshmen this year and played situationally will start showing up this next fall. Brix etal. The hole the transition from Frost’s last class and Rhule’s first class was a killer.
Even then, I think our DC played a huge role in their ineffectiveness. Multiple posters on here who I think know their sh$! pointed out during games that they knew what Butler was going to do defensively before it happened.
