6 Mississippi players in the top 100

5* LaQuinton Ross (SG/SF, Jackson, MS)
5* Johnny OBryant (PF, Cleveland, MS)
4* Rodney Hood (SF, Meridian, MS)
4* Tyler Adams (C, Brandon, MS)
4* Michael Ammons (SF, Vicksburg, MS)
4* Deville Smith (PG, Jackson, MS)

I think Demarco Cox from Yazoo City might also be in the top 100. Someone might correct me on that.

With Stewart, Varnado, and presumably Sidney leaving after this year, and Bailey, Benock, Turner, Augustus, and Johnson leaving after 2010 (I guess one of those will already be gone before this coming season), that leaves us with 6 spots coming open if we don't fill them next year. Couple that with the possibility of Riek or Osby leaving early as well, it's possible we'll have the space to sign all 8 of those if we can get them in, or hopefully at least 4-5...

You missed 2:

4* LeAntwan Luckett - Rigdeland (MS) Ridgeland

Here's the complete list: http://basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/viewrank.asp?SID=910&Year=2011&ra_key=2288

Deville is a stud - seen him in person in an AAU tournament once and he'd be our best ball-handler if he was on campus right now.

OBryant, Hood, Adams, & Smith, maybe Ammons. Not sure about Ross, he is really good for a 6'8 guard....Five would be unbelievable.
I think Cox is a senior next year.

Now if we can just get Sidney to play before December.</p>

is in the class of 2010 so you are correct.
He really likes duke and is hoping for an offer, if not Alabama is in the lead. Says no to msu because he doesn't want to be at the same school as fletcher and wants to play against him...
Wants to focus on Basketball, and if not drafted, then come out for a year or so of football.

...are rarely ever accurate, but I find it interesting that we're the only school listed for Johnny O'Bryant.

Feel pretty confident about Ammons. His family are MSU fans and helps that Delmon's dad, Dellie Robinson, is head basketball at Vicksburg. The last basketball prodigy was Big Q, as in Quentin Smith, who as we all know, never lived up to expectations. But nonetheless, I look for him to be at state.

Scout has O'Bryant listed at #7 and Ross at #10. Hood is at around #28, Smith is in the 60s (I think) and Adams around 70. Its amazing how fast O'Bryant has moved up. However watching his video shows he is very quick for such a tall player. The recruits for the 2011 class have a chance to really fight for some serious playing time as most of our current big men will be gone by then. Also, I agree on the comment regarding Deville Smith. He is talented but is an exceptionally great ballhandler.

I would love it if MSU had the Mississippi Fab Five. Also, how dominant would it be if MSU signed the complete all-state team for 2011.

alleged recruit Lance Stephenson (who was speculated to have been recruited late in the spring by MSU) has signed with the UC Bearcats.

I've known him since he was a sixth grader and he is an outstanding basketball player and athlete in general. He is about as smooth a player as I've seen and can flat shoot the ball. Also is a very unselfish player and will do whatever is asked or needed for the team. Plays both ends of the court, he's not a one sided player. He comes from a great family that is very supportive. Went to Ridgeland as a freshmen to improve his basketball surroundings and started if I'm not mistaken. Ridgeland's recent success (which he has been instrumental in) proves that to be a great decision. I hope Stansbury takes the time to really look at him. Whoever gets him will be getting a heck of a player.

Another thing that is interesting to me is the OM is only on one of these kid's "list", Luckett. I know OM hasnt recruited Mississippi very well (or at all), but how can let this much in state talent slip by...

I'm pretty sure Hood's mom played basketball for the titty dogs, and I think his dad might have played for MSU also. One would think that would help us out with him.

You would think Madison Central if he is in Madison County or move to Jackosn to play some real ball.

I've seen Demarco Cox play as well - I don't think he's anywhere close to a top 100 guy. I'm only going off one viewing and while he's a good athlete, he doesn't have the lift or overall skill currently for me to call him a high D1 player. Can he play D1 basketball - absolutely. But he's not a Duke or even SEC type player unless he really develops this year in my opinion.

I'll probably try to see him a couple of more times this year though as I want to watch some of these other guys as well.

Demarco is also a 2010 class guy while the others are 2011

that they traditionally suck at, it's basketball. It has gotten better, and I am aware that they won 5A over Provine of all people. Too bad I didn't have the foresight to make a sign for that game that said YMCA> The street.

But shoot, if I was a basketball player in Jackson, I would want to go to Lanier or Provine or Murrah.
