Seems against the norm to play 2 years of JV after the school opens but probably the right way to do it.
Speaking of South Garner I heard they decided to forfeit the rest of the Varsity Girls Basketball season after starting 0-10 and only scoring more than 8 points in a game one time.
That’s rough!
Oak Grove (new high school in Davidson County) opened last year (2017-18). In year one the school opened to 9th and 10th graders. The school board opted to start off their athletic offerings as all varsity, minus football. They really took a whooping. Here in year two, things are better with the exception of basketball and soccer. Next year I would imagine things will get even better as they’ll have a class of seniors.
If a school doesn’t have seniors, I wouldn’t have any problem with them starting their first season as all JV. It isn’t a big hit with the other conference football teams though, as they still have to play you in JV, but then have to find a varsity game for that Friday night.
