Well not really. They came back from down 17 at one point, were down 13 at the start of the fourth, there was a horrible no call on a hip check by Stoudamire, and Mayo still had a chance to tie the game with a three. He did have 33 tonight. Still, they had a 102-100 lead with 1:30 left and lost 107-102. Way to finish.

I'm still baffled by the no call on the knee to the midsection of Ross. I know the Grizz still had to score, but that's a horrible way to come up empty.

Great effort, though. If Mayo continues to have nights like this, Rookie of the Year will be a landslide.

Yep. That was simply a case of the Grizzlies being a young team, so they weren't going to get the call. You'll see a lot of that this year. The Grizzlies don't really have anyone who has paid their dues so to speak, so they will be on the bad end of a lot of calls all year.

The good news is, they are a fun team to watch, and they seem to have a really solid foundation for the future. The only question I see going forward is the PG spot. Mike Conley needs to come around and become the player they expect him to be. Other than that, Mayo, Gay, Arthur, and Gasol at the 5 is going to be a very solid starting 5 to build on, especially as they start to get more experience. After watching them play early this season, I think they definitely can win 30+ games which will give them a good boost going into next year.

I'm all in. I went to the Halloween game. 1-3 on the road trip, but all came down to the end. I was pissed at the no-call with the knee to the nads last night on Ross too. Mistakes like the over and back and some "apparent" open passing lanes are expected with starters who either can't drink a beer legally or get carded everytime they order one.. I love the way this team is playing D ith effort. I don't think we'd see that with Damon Stoudamire and Pau. Kevin O'Neill coming to the staff already looks like a great move. A Gasol with a backbone, that's a nice change of pace. I'm ready to watch that game tomorrow vs the knicks..........</p>

when your starting 5 consists of three rookies, a sophmore, and a 3rd year player. Hell, even our primary bench players in Warrick, Lowery, and Darko are very young.

I can give these guys the benefit of the doubt because even though they make mistakes(sometimes a lot of them), they're busting their butts out there. It's a shame for them to get passed over by the refs every night just because they're young, but that's the way it goes in the NBA.

Who do you think the Wallace will go after in the offseason? If I had my way, I'd do the following:

Keep Lowery
Re-sign Warrick
Package Conley and Walker's expiring contract for a solid starting PG. We could even throw in our 2009 1st round pick for a star
Sign the best player that we can get with our cap money

The nice thing for this off season is that we have a ton of flexibility. We'll have the most money in the league to spend. We've got Walker's contract. We've got draft picks. We also have some nice young players like Conley and Crittenten that should spark some interest. For the first time ever, we have a lot of different cards to play.
