Thanks Tuscaloosa News.

Here's one thing I found interesting if only because if this was active a few years ago I wouldn't have been able to go to a couple of games:
Athletic departments from around the league have expressed concerns about the new rules. Ranging from the wording of the policy - which, as it now stands, limits credentials to "full-time salaried" employees (many news organizations pay hourly wages, employ part-time workers and use freelancers) - to the task to implementing its mandates.
Please forgive if this has been in Der Spiegel.

For example, the new SEC rules also place restrictions on what ticket-holders can do while at the game.

A summary printed on the back of each ticket (likely starting next year with football, since tickets for this season already have been distributed) forbids fans from taking photographs or sharing accounts or descriptions of the event.

So, would this mean that fans wouldn't be able to go to a game, come home and write a blog about their experience?

allow them to be as strict or lax as the feel necessary. I doubt an SEC official will slap your iPhone out of your hand if you're talking to your friend back home, but they want to be able to keep some dude on Twitter from doing a play-by-play of an entire game.

Sounds like a obvious attempt to prevent people from posting stuff about the game on here. Maybe we can just prevent certain people from sharing their account of the game.

Good work by the Birmingham/Tuscaloosa News folks on this today.

Another, even better analysis of the first draft: http://www.rockytoptalk.com/2009/8/10/983185/the-new-sec-media-and-ticket

My favorite part of the whole thing is this, part of the new language to go on every ticket:

"Bearer may not bring alcoholic beverages, bottles, cans or containers, laser pointers, irritants (e.g. artificial noisemakers), video cameras, strobe-lights, or any type of weapon (or anything which the SEC or its member institution may deem a weapon) onto the premises of the Event."
Holy crap! We've been upgraded to "irritants"!! Awesome.
