My guess is he wasn't 6'5" when he decided he liked catching.
I noticed that but decided maybe I didn't know enough about catching to comment. That is First baseman to me. But he must have mastered it
It's not ideal, unless you're really quick and most 6-5 guys are not.
There was a push for a while for 'athletic' catchers and that makes sense I suppose but there's no advantage to being tall at that position.
Just throw to 2nd from the knees, right? Maybe a lil less hum on the ball but maybe faster than hopping up to a height or 6-5 and then throwing to second.

A lot the taller guys catch with one knee on the ground. Makes it a little easier.

I remember Jarrod saltalamacchie that played with the mbraves. Worked okay for him. He was tall for a catcher.
Joe Mauer was 6’5. Mike Piazza was 6’4. Now they didn’t catch as much as they got older but the came in as catchers.
Main claim to fame, longest last name in MLB history. I do not recognize the hyphenated one they now call the longest. That's cheating, plain and simple.
I worked for the mbraves the summer he was there. Dude was lazy as hell. Always complaining about workouts etc he had no drive just talent
