Byron De'Vinner possibly blackmailed Mullen with this recruiting information in order to get job he "interviewed" for. Now possibly telling all this in order to get job with Freeze.

That sounded silly at first but...

Let's say DeVinner just threw it out there in the interview to give the impression that he's of value since he 'knows what's going on with our boosters'. Could have been done without any ill intentions as well. I'd say that would be a very good possibility of how Mullen could have found out about what went on at a random guys tailgate. Mullen then self reports it to the NCAA, since you can't have guys like this having something over your head.

The timeline works out: DeVinner interviews in January which is when it appears we self-reported this.

(all just speculation of course)

So are you saying that we interviewed De'Vinner for a job?

No, when I say "interview"

I mean that I think he calls Mullen and says, This is what I know. What are you going to do for me to keep quiet? It all seems like a very plausible theory to me. Then Mullen would've self reported and MSU compliance started investigating claims. Could explain the why Mirando resigned in August because it could have taken that long to discover that he knew about it.
