This has probably been stated, but I looked about that girl that is transferring from UCONN to see how good she really is.... She averaged 38 ppg her senior year in HS. That is just silly....

Seems that D was her issue At UConn. If so, good for her that she's meeting it head on by moving to a place where she will absolutely have to play D. In the interest of full disclosure of what went on at UConn, and not being negative because I'm excited as hell to have her, see this...

Well, here's to hoping she just needs a fresh start, and learned a valuable lesson...if true. Sometimes 2nd chances need to come where the slate is clean.

Gonna be on her side unless or until she shows she doesn't deserve it. No doubt Geno is a great coach, but so is Vic, and it sure seems like our young ladies believe enough in Vic and each other to run through brick walls. We know they bust their asses, and are always the most fit team, willing and able to expend enormous energy on defense.

Damn. An 8-page thread on a true FR women's basketball player who barely played transferring. That's some impressive fan support. I think it's pretty clear that she and Geno had a falling out over something, but I don't see any red flags here, sometimes things just aren't a good fit between a player and a coach. I agree with their fans that Vic won't be a much easier coach to play for than Geno was. Hope she does well and enjoys her career at MSU.

Vic wouldn’t have taken her if he thought there would be problems.

He tought Vivians to defend well, and she had no desire to play defense whatsoever when she got to campus. I feel confident he will know how to make it work with Andra.

As for the “culture shock” aspect of things, it’s not like we’ve never had players from far away. Bibby is from freaking Australia. Chinwe Okorie is from Nigeria and then played HS ball in Connecticut.

What else are they going to talk about? Their men's program is doing a Hindenburg. Football? Good luck, brother.

There's a couple of jackasses, particularly the guy who keeps going on and on about Vic not being that great of a coach because he hasn't won any conference titles, conference tourney's, etc.

What that moron is not taking into consideration is how very much more difficult a task that is in the SEC vs the AAC + Big East (or any other conference for that matter), when UConn was there. The SEC has had 10 schools make the final 4, whereas UConn's conference has had only 4, and all of them were in the Big East.

What about the dumbass Bama fan(Why the hell is he there?) complaining about cowbells. That is really strange to see on an UCONN women's basketball page.

Same idiot also said we played too soft a schedule, especially OOC. Never mind that UConn has played 6 ranked teams compared to our 8, and that we've played 4 ranked OOC opponents.

We found our next Vivians. This girl has the New York State HS record for most points scored in a career with 4,000ish. If y'all remember how Vivians was as a freshman it's probably why Geno didn't get along well with AEH and pushed her out the door. Geno is an *******. If there's a bigger ******* in WBB I can't name em. AEH was probably shooting too much and not focusing on defense enough to his liking or something dumb like that so he kicked off a 5* true freshman cause she wasn't listening to him as much as he liked. What a dick.

I don't know how big an ******* Geno is, but if he made the comments the article said he did about AEH, he is a petty douche. Completely unprofessional for a 63 year old man to discuss an 18 year old he was charged with mentoring that way.

I wouldn't want to put those expectations on her, but I think we've got a real good one. Hopefully, Geno will rue the day he ran her off.

Speaking of idiots .. please name the 4 OOC ranked opponents. I ONLY see MSU playing #24 ASU and #9 Oregon; others are SEC teams #6 UT, #7 USCe, and #15 Miz .. with #14 A&M yet to play. That's 2 currently ranked OOC teams and 4 SEC.

UConn .. STARTED the season with #10 Stan, #20 Cal, #15 MD and #5 UCLA .. plus #3 ND, #9 Tex and #7 USCe. That's 7 currently ranked teams; ALL are OOC.

Think MSU OOC is softer when compared to UConn BUT our SEC Conference schedule is way tougher than the American conference.

If he feels that way about the women's attitude, he wouldn't last a month coaching a men's team. Of course, like he admits, it's a little easier to take such a hard line with them when your 3rd string would still be a top 20 team.

I heard from a reliable source the real reason she left(Can't say out of respect for her) and trust me, Geno is in fact an *******. She'll do fine here and I bet she hopes we meet them down the road.

I agree with patdog regarding expectations. Fortunately when she is eligible we should have enough firepower around her that she can be another piece of the puzzle rather than being forced to into the role of carrying the team. Obviously next year McCowan will be the first and likely second options on offense. My prediction is that Bibby and Tate will provide most of the three point shooting next year with Danberry and Holmes being more slashing type guards. The unknown factors will be how Scott steps up next year from the three point line and how much the newcomers Wiggins and Taylor will be able to provide in three point shooting. I also think our team next year will be focused more on interior scoring, rebounding and defense like we did last year. Regardless when Espinosa-Hunter is eligible the following year we will have several very talented guards and wings returning (in addition to others that may be in the next year's signing class) so its not even a given that she will automatically start.

Yep, you are an idiot all right. You left off #20 Green Bay & #22 Ok State. So, to answer your snotty, ignorant question, the 4 are:

#9 Oregon
#20 Green Bay
#22 Ok State
#25 ASU

That's 4 currently ranked OOC teams and 4 SEC.

Cal is no longer ranked, so, wrong again, genius.

Finally, I did not say our OOC was as strong as UConn's...just that it was idiotic to say ours has been soft. Kinda like it's idiotic to call another poster an idiot for getting facts wrong when that poster is correct, and your facts wrong.

Happy?

Apparently, Vic agrees with you.
[FONT="proxima_nova_rgregular"]“
You’re talking about a highly-skilled player that can do a lot of different things. When I see her on film, I see a lot of what (Victoria Vivians) does. She's a big guard that can do a lot of different things. She’s hard to defend,” Schaefer said. “I love the kid’s presence on the visit here. I think she really fits in with the character of our kids. We’re really excited about her.”

I like it when a poster initially disagrees with something you post only to find something later that backs it up and has the humbleness to go back and link that to your initial comment they disagreed with. Have an up vote patdog.

Well, based on where we both are now its shouldn't matter...

Same idiot also said we played too soft a schedule, especially OOC. Never mind that UConn has played 6 ranked teams compared to our 8, and that we've played 4 ranked OOC opponents.

We are in a position where we will be the #2 overall seed and they will be the #1, barring a complete catastrophe, and will thus be on opposite sides of the bracket.

With that said, the schedules are really a bit of a wash. We are on track to play 8 teams that are currently ranked and they are too. The ranked teams they have played have a higher average rank and they will have played more top 10 teams for sure but on the other hand their conference schedule is a joke compared to ours.

Make no mistake though, they have a very stout team and are more than deserving of their #1 rank and they will be favored to beat us if and when we meet them in the tourney. This is supported by the only direct data point we have which is common opponent USC whom they squashed like a sick cockroach on the road while we had to come from behind to beat at home.

I still like our chances. I just hope we can get to the place where we could play them because that would only be the NC game. Although it wouldn't hurt my feelings if someone wanted to return the favor that we gave USC last year.

No disagreement from me. I think the rankings are correct and deserved. My issue with that poster was his contention we have played too soft a schedule, and that Vic is overrated because, "he hasn't won anything".

One correction, we are on track to play 9 teams that are currently ranked, not counting the SEC tourney, where we will clearly play even more.

When you add in conference tournaments, assuming UConn & MSU make it to the final, we will have played another 3 ranked teams vs none for them.

Unless others know something I don't, I would think Iggy Allen would also be in line for a significant role if (big if) her knee is healthy. Myah Taylor is going to be a major player for the next four years. I also thought Jonika Garvin looked long and athletic last night. I hope she carves a spot for herself in her senior year.

I agree. Without knowing how the newcomers are going to adjust I predict the following lineup for next year:
C- McCowan
PF- Bibby
SF- Allen, Tate or Scott
SG- Danberry
PG- Holmes

I think Taylor wins the backup PG spot or she may sub in for Holmes and Danberry play PG. The post is going to be tough to sort with Campbell playing significant back up minutes and having three years in the system. I agree with you that Garvin looks athletic in her limited minutes. However from their press releases by Coach Shaefer it appears that 6-5 White and 6-5 Carter are capable posts and expected to play this coming year along with the 6-1 Wiggins in a role similar to Vivians. I could see the lineup shifting several times during the non-conference schedule.

Agreed. I don't think anything's promised from Vic's perspective. You earn your PT. Barring injury, the only sure starters next year are McCowan, Holmes and Bibby with Danberry very, very likely. Sure would like to see her develop more confidence in her shot. Seems to be getting better.

Vic has proved he'll sit you if you're not doing things right. Hell, he sat 4 starters for an NCAA tournament game last year. That's some balls of steel right there, even if it was a 1st round game.

The problem with comparing schedules is the fact that UCONN has blown away most of the top 10 whereas we have destroyed the second half of the top 20. Whether that makes a difference in tournament play I don't know. We will definitely have to bring our "A" game to beat them in a rematch. Assuming that we took them by surprise last year, they will not make that mistake twice.

Next year, when she's sitting out her compulsory year, does she get to practice with the team, or is she on her own? Does she get to dress out for games?

She'll practice with the team. No need to dress out since she can't play, but she'll be at all home games for sure.

The Aubby game is about to sellout too. She should come to the next three. She’ll get to see 4 sell outs in a row. Maybe bring a few potential recruits along.
