Transferring from Illinois --> To Nebraska. Living in Lincoln and commuting to Millard South (naturally lol)

MS's argument to the haters is always
1) These kids grew up together
2) These kids want it more
3) These kids are developed in MYFL

I wonder who tells that young QB they have on roster already that all of the aforementioned just simply doesn't matter now, haha.

I know nothing about the situation, but based on Trae Taylor's social media history, I am confident that he facilitated this entire move. Millard South receives (justifiably) a lot of grief for pounding the pavement with recruiting kids, but this particular kid more than likely sought MS out after wanting to move to Nebraska. It doesn't take much to connect the dots on how he got to that destination. It does make sense for him if he's going to move here and find the best spot to win and pad stats. It is unfortunate for the backup, who seems to be talented. That kid will have to make a decision between moving to a different school, experiencing less success and recruiting traffic, or hanging in there at MS for another year and then plan on being a starter for his Junior and Senior year. Won't be surprised if he sticks it out.

I agree - I don’t think MS called him, just more of a “go figure” in today’s HS athletics atmosphere - it’s getting weird.

Seems to me like if he had chosen to go anywhere else, we'd be celebrating it. Potentially great for Husker football, probably good for the kid. If you're him and you want to live in the area to be closer to Lincoln and start preparing early, where else would you have chosen to play?

Oh, he for sure "chose the best place to play" - I think that's the weird thing about all of this, lol.

Also, in today's collegiate portal era - I can almost PROMISE you he won't be at UNL for the entirety of his career. So, it's an interesting move to make now.

I don't think any rules were broken or anything like that - I just hate this for HS Sports, that's all..

There's a rumor that MS might be getting a Antayvious Taylor - WR from Texas that is committed to the Huskers. If that is the case, they need to play a national schedule.

I agree with this take 💯 ... If they're going to get transfers like a prep school, they might as well play a prep school schedule. They were already getting all the best kids in Omaha and Lincoln. Now they're going national. IMG Academy and Bishop Gorman don't play for state championships. This is not good for Nebraska HS Football. If they're going to play, they shouldn't be eligible for the playoffs. There should be a limit on the number of transfers for a team. It's going to kill other Class A programs. It's already started.

Bishop Gorman plays for state championships. IMG Academy is the only school I know of that doesn't play for a state championship. Not disagreeing with you that MS should play a national schedule. Would be more fun for those coaches/players.

I heard schools in De La Salle's (CA) conference refused to play them and made them go national. Couldn't tell you how many teams do that... But honestly, they'd get more out of it. Even if it was just a couple KC teams, Westside, and some of the best teams from the midwest.

What's the limit? Only for football?
Also, how about private schools that get kids from an area, rather than the immediate town?
I agree it's a bunch of BS, but what would the rules be?

That's a good question. Smaller schools near Class A school districts have advantages too. Private and Non-Private... I know a coach who used to be in California that says we should do a tier system based on success rate. Similar to what Class A is doing with the OPS schools being in their own district. Could be something within each class and maybe go up a class if someone is very dominant... idk.. I think it starts from the top down though. It's pretty obvious that other class A schools can't compete with Millard South. Westside isn't that far off either. Those 2 are on their own level and a lot of it has to do with transfers.

There is an easy fix to this. The schools...not the NSAA...need to write a proposal to give the football scheduling back to the schools. When Millard South can't fill their schedule they will either have to play a national schedule or they will end up with all of these players and no games to play. Very few teams in Nebraska will agree to play them. The current structure puts Nate Neuhaus in a terrible spot. He has an obligation to MS to provide them with 9 games. I would venture to say 8 of the 9 teams he puts on their schedule are going to be mad that he is making them play Millard South. Its a lose-lose for him.

Agreed. It’s not NSAA fault and I’m not envious of Neuhaus.

Getting really weird how excited/defensive all the HS sports media guys are on social media.. I guess it’s something to write about which helps them.

No, I don’t think MS called those kids - the point of the complaints is the sanctity of HS football, in class A at least, is gone. It’s sad what we have done to HS athletics.

St Francis Academy in Baltimore, where Biff Poggi once coached, also doesn't play for a state title. Teams in Maryland basically refused to stop playing them, and they began just making a national schedule. Poggi and the school bought housing and everything for players who moved there at that time. HBO has a four-star part series on it called The Cost of Winning.

I agree to a point - the schools can't just change the rules with a snap of a finger. When something like this happens, then the NSAA needs to step in and help with the situation. Now, there should be a proposal written for next year by a member school. If that doesn't happen, then yes, it would be on the member schools. Just my .02.
