Per Jeffrey Lee, AU Rivals writer...

More info regarding allegations... Reply
I've spoken to two very trusted sources on the situation, and both said the following are facts:

* Florida coach Urban Myer, Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen and former Mississippi State quarterback John Bond had a telephone conversation recently to discuss the allegations.

* Meyer had an interest in this story getting out and encouraged Bond to do so.

* Mullen told the two he thought they should move on, let it go, regardless of what was being alleged. Meyer said no, that it needed to get out to the media.

* Kenny Rogers, who is alleged to have sought money, is a desperate individual that was trying to get Cam Newton to go to Mississippi State. Rogers has a checkered past that includes an ongoing investigation by the NFL.

the airways because apparently it has legs plus AU is very good due to the "rented mule". Let's just sit back and see how it plays out.

The complaints about AU buying instead of renting the piece of **** mule went into slive last June. Slive tells mullen/Meyer he'll look into it, thinking AU won't be a factor and it will all go away. AU climbs all the way to #1 and slive still hasn't done ****, so mullen/Meyer take matters into their own hands and force the issue public. This is my theory.

Saban and some Bama cigar boys have finally seen enough, they stand the most to lose out of this deal anyway.

Why is Meyer involved? Friends with Mullen? Newton's old coach? Auburn buying players that he was after?

The Auburn beat writer has 2 trusted sources that are privy to an alledged phone conversation between 3 individuals associated with completely different schools. Not only do they know the conversation happened, but they know exactly who said what. Riiiiggght...

And to top it off, what does Meyer have to gain in any of this? Why in the world is this matter so urgent to him? Since Newton was not going back to UF, we KNOW he wasn't involved in recruiting, why would he have ANY say in what the HC of MSU and an alumnus of MSU do?

Does not the fact that you found this rumor on the Florida pay board lend credence to the idea that Meyer is somehow involved? Can you cut and paste the thread from the UF board?

I could not agree more. I am either missing the connection or things are just spinning out of control at this point.

I could even understand if it was Mullen and Saban but I don't see where Meyer has **** to do with it and how these sources know what was said on the calls.

The only plausible explanation is that one of the 3 involved in the conversation is the unnamed source and leaked it on purpose. I could see that being the case but still don't see why Meyer had a hard on to screw Newton and Auburn.

Meyer and Mullen are buddies who talk at least occasionally and Mullen called him up when Cam went to the plains. Mullen said, "you want to hear some S**t? John Bond - do you remember him? Well he called the Ninja and said that Cam's Pop, the Reverend Righteous is asking for $200,000.00 and change to get his son to sign and Burns says we can't pay it because LT overheard and said he would turn us in for waste of Company funds if we threw that kind of money at a recruit."

Meyer said, "Listen, Bubba. If you have a hair on your hiney-ho, you'll turn old Swizzlestick and teh plainsmen in."

And so Mullen did and blamed it on the Ninja. Leaving himself clear of any charges from the other SEC West coaches of messing upthe SEC mule rental program.

This fable is at least 5% true, or my name isn't MeridianDog.

I would also say it's because Meyer probably wishes Cam was still at Florida and they would probably be undefeated

The post was on GatorBait, their rivals board. I went back to get the thread but their history only goes back about 3 days worth of posts. It's long gone. I only lifted the original post.

Could it have anything to do with Urban realizingthat his lackluster FLA team might have to play the rented mule in Atlanta in early December? He might be thinkingif MSUran all over my defense, it will beembarrasing to see what happens when we play Cam.</p>

When he thought they had everything hidden well enough, he passed it on up. This way it will hopefully all just blow over and he can bend State over for lying to the NCAA.
