Trump and Co on track to bankrupt the Kennedy Center because Dear Leader is upset his name can’t be displayed. On brand.

Btw, if there is any good news for Rs on the midterms, I can’t find it.

I think my favorite part of this chain has become TJ coming in occasionally to spew insults and try and obfuscate arguments.

Setting aside the fact that I pointed out the one good Congressional period on the debt since roughly 2001 was Republican control opposite Obama from 2011-16 (the Congresses that hardcore rightists constantly claimed were "weak"), I agree that Congress is a big part of the debt/deficit problem.

HOWEVER, THAT IS NOT THE DEBATE. I've repeatedly stated Trump is terrible on these issues, and the posts from last year claiming otherwise were laughable idiocy. And you know what ... the deficit/debt keep exploding under Trump. Trump absolutely had the opportunity to use his control over the House to improve the deficit/debt situation. Instead, his signature bill was quite bad on these issues (maintained lower taxes and added additional, often unnecessary tax breaks while in no way controlling spending).

Moreover, anyone who has followed his personal life could have seen this coming. Trump has not been known for his fiscal restraint. He actually thinks (not without reason) that the more his companies owed on buildings, the more leverage they had with the lenders. Sometimes this worked to get him better terms when deals with sideways, other times (NJ casinos) this ended up a giant bust for all involved.

So yes, with the exception of the Boehner/Ryan Congress (oh boy does this give me the feels to point this out), Congress has sucked on the debt/deficit since Newt, including the GOP Congresses under Trump. And Trump sucks too.

That's how you get to $40T in debt!!!

I vote red in local elections. Venezuelans are still causing problems here, in 2026. I don’t blame Trump, but that problem is still here.

Are you in favor of political leaders promising financial payouts if they win?
That is good, but the person in the WH matters when it comes to the border.

This thread cracks me up. Same guys fighting for years behind keyboards on both sides. I suggest you all take time to look at all sides on issues you are fighting about and the answers will become obvious. Hop out of your safe zones and really do the research using reliable resources. The truth is in plain sight. This isn't rocket science :)

I'm curious about this post. With one exception, this thread is basically a handful of MAGA diehards arguing with Trump skeptics who are probably more right leaning than left leaning.

Typically, one would not consider people who are arguing against their former "team" as being within their safe zones.

I'd just like to be enlightened.

And yet, you ignore the fact that I have said Trump isn't great on the deficit/debt. He literally will and has signed everything Congress has passed. You get 40T in debt because Rs, Ds, and all Presidents since Newt/Clinton have failed on debt. It isn't difficult.

And yet they could stay in power. What does that say about the Dems?

Republicans have less than a 15% chance of holding the House. Even that much exists because (a) there aren't all that many competitive seats and (b) redistricting over the past 18 months netted the GOP probably 6-8 seats they wouldn't previously have had. So basically, it is very unlikely Rs will retain power here.

Moving to the Senate, let's call it 50/50. As you know, Rs have a 4 seat advantage (tie goes to the VP Party), and there is only a single Senate race in a state Harris won (Susan Collins). Dems have to hold seats in two Trump won states (MI and GA, the latter is a lock). So in a neutral environment, you'd kind of expect the net gain to be even.

To get 4 seats, Dems have to win several states that Trump won by more than 10%, and they have a 50% chance of doing so. North Carolina is the only "close" seat that went Trump's way in 2024, and Dems are a complete lock in that race. Dems then have to win two of Ohio, Iowa, Texas, and Alaska, and hold the state of Michigan. Ohio, Iowa, Texas, Alaska ... man those are lefty places ... lol. Again, Dems must win two of these states.

Republicans losing the Senate is a humiliating outcome that is a categorical rejection of the last two years. Maybe they ultimately hold on, which probably means that the election was poor but less than catastrophic.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) offered asylum to the holdout juror in the Lindsay Clancy trial after it was revealed the juror has a history of domestic abuse allegations.

“A man objected to allowing a woman to kill her three young kids and get away with it, so NBC is trying to smear that juror, whose identity should be protected,” DeSantis wrote Friday on X. “Another low for legacy media. If the juror is being harassed, Florida will provide asylum — I’m sure he’d be welcomed and appreciated.”

This is why this twerp will never be President. Not an original move in his head. He is Trump Jr. and that brand is POISON.
I agree with DeSantis in that local media in Massachusetts are outing the juror and setting him up as the sole nay vote (a bad guy) among a group of liberal jurors.

As far as the jurors, here is what one of the woman jurors has insisted on sharing publicly (why?):

"One of the 11 jurors who wanted to find Massachusetts mom Lindsay Clancy not criminally responsible for killing her three children said the panel (jury) viewed the case as a chance to make things "better for other women" and families — a thought process that one legal analyst is calling "problematic."

"Even though we didn't know what was going on outside of our little bubble that we were in, we knew that this was a turning point, and this would be something that could change something to make it better for other women in the future, for other families," 65-year-old Clancy juror Paula Devlin told "CBS Saturday Morning" over the weekend. "You know, justice for those children is never happening again."

In other words, the kids are dead so why not use her opportunity as a juror to push her social agenda with the jury verdict.

Bottom line: I don't know what instructions the jury was given on how to interpret the law but kudos to Ron DeSantis for sticking up for freedom of speech and thought.

RUSSIA! RUSSIA! RUSSIA!

Donald Trump Jr.’s Bahamas Wedding Was Secretly Bankrolled By Russian Oligarch Close To Putin

The oligarch, Umar Kremlev, appears to have met Trump Jr. only recently, but he attended the intimate wedding with a large group of other Russian guests.

This story was originally published by ProPublica.
On May 24, Donald Trump Jr. was celebrating in the Bahamas, as scantily clad dancers in stilettos and sailor caps performed for him and his guests. It was the last night of his wedding, a lavish, three-day party held across a pair of ultra-exclusive private islands. A five-tier funfetti cake had been airlifted in from Florida, and helicopters and seaplanes descended on the islands before guests settled into their oceanfront villas. That night on the beach, Trump Jr. lifted his bride into the air while fireworks launched from a barge over the sea.
“It was everything we dreamed of and more,” his wife later wrote on Instagram.
That dream was heavily funded by a secret benefactor: Umar Kremlev, a Russian oligarch close to President Vladimir Putin.

Kremlev footed the bill for hundreds of thousands of dollars of wedding expenses, according to records reviewed by ProPublica and interviews with three people familiar with the event. The oligarch paid to rent out one of the private islands, where a reception was held and where guests slept. He also covered other big-ticket items,

Not everything has to do with a blue state, liberal jurors, women versus the sole man. It had to do with murder, and 11 jurors agreed. RDS is a Trump wannabe.

Not so fast, leave the goal posts alone. You are criticizing DeSantis for saying Florida stands for free speech, if that is a Trump wannabe, then it is a good thing.

The woman strangled her 3 young biological children and 11 liberal jurors did not want to convict her of murder. I gave you the quote from one of them saying it was an opportunity to make social change. The Boston media has gone out of its way to out the 12th juror and make his life miserable.

RDS got his name in the news which is no surprise since he is running for president. I don't know if he is your guy but Newsome has been doing this for 2 years already.

If you knew anything about Florida under RDS you would know that Florida under him does not favor free speech. State workers are fired for exercising free speech, University Professors have their right to free speech taken as do the students. The Free State of Florida is a campaign fiction that unknowing MAGAs swallow.

I don't like the 5k. So, this poster has no need to defend it.

I find your last statement to be ironic as you couldn't vote for the clean up of your region of the world while Tren De is taking it over.
It certainly is ironical. If someone can’t make wise choices and understandings at the macro level, chances are that someone doesn’t have solid reasoning skills to understand the why’s on the micro level. It’s typical Democrat behavior. They focus too often on the symptoms, not the source.

I attended a private concert of his two years ago. He was great! He may want to share his wisdom with NIKE.
I’m curious if people think Nike has a shot at making a comeback. Their stick price has dropped so much. Will it bottom out or go to zero? Even though they have had the $$$ money for R&D and innovation whether that’s fabrics, shoes, sports equipment, etc, they seem to have rested on their laurels. It’s not just a go woke, go broke situation. Hoka is taking up shoe market space. Alo and Lululemon are popular and have activewear and retail stores.

What exactly are the odds of getting 11 activist liberal jurors in some Boston burb? Has to be astronomical even there, I’d think.

Maybe, just maybe, the law was the issue for the prosecution. Had to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant knew she was acting wrongfully, despite an active and undisputed diagnosis of post partum psychosis and repeated attempts to get help and even institutionalize herself.

Why do you and the lefty extremists have to make this political? It’s a legal question, not some Twitter slop bait.

So the House just voted to permanently eliminate the penny with the exception of collector/memorabilia. Further the bill allows the government to use cheaper materials to make nickels. I got a laugh out of that one. It reminded me of a Yogiism- “a nickel ain’t worth a dime anymore “

There’s something really wrong with this company.

AI is moving so fast, I haven't seen the outline of one realistic proposal on "reining it in" and certainly wouldn't trust Anthropic, which is the underlying issue -- who can you trust? Political science classes are probably at a standstill and politicians are trying to learn to speak out of more than 2 sides of their mouths. The old adage, follow the money, comes to mind.

I’m somewhat surprised by this with gas still being high priced. I haven’t seen it take any post-Labor Day drop yet.

Is this deja vu? Didn't we just see a report from the ridiculously inept Rasmussen giving preposterously high favorability numbers to Trump? Some of you believe this fool!

Yep! Anthropic and OpenAI are going public soon, although Altman now claims he won't be doing that with OpenAI this year after all. If they can eliminate the competition through government over-regulation, they win and they make big money. I trust both of these companies as far as I can throw their C-suite execs/owners. Add in the complete assault of how we have to slow down, it's all coming from the left. Is there a scary element to AI? Yes. This is what? The 4th industrial revolution? We have to lead it or China will.

Juror Paula Devlin later said the panel saw the case as a chance to “make it better for other women” and families.

Was it really about post partum?

I think this is a bit of a tightrope to walk. Do we want to excuse all sorts of bad behavior from women that just had babies?

Dahmer was crazier than a ********* rat. Experts described a mix of conditions rather than one diagnosis: necrophilia (a paraphilic disorder), borderline personality disorder, schizotypal personality disorder, and alcohol dependence. Some also noted antisocial traits. Defense psychiatrists argued the necrophilia and related disorders amounted to a mental disease that left him unable to control himself.

He was convicted in less than a 10 hour deliberation by a wise jury.

I am not a legal expert, but I think the message needs to always be very strong punishment, especially in brutal murder cases.

I am guessing anyone willing to murder innocent people are some form of crazy.
