What a bunch of blathering bull ****! It is the easiest mid-term to predict. It will be a blood bath. Trump is at a high of 32% and a low of 29% favorability. Everyday is worse than the last based upon Trump's actions and words. The generic ballot may favor Democrats by 14%. Yet Talarico having a favorite Drag Queen and not eating meet will save Texas. You guys hang on to Rasmussen stating that Trumps favorability is rising to 45% and the next week to 48%. LMFAO.
We shall see. Conrad Black is a very reputable guy who is not MAGA at all. Dismiss him at your peril.

Hillary winning the popular vote in 2016, Rs gaining Senate seats in 2018, Trump/Rs generating what should have been divided government in 2020 (until Trump tanked the Senate runoffs in GA), Dems overperforming in 2022, and Dems barely losing the House in 2024.
There is no silver lining here. It’s going to be an utter bloodbath. Sens Talarico and El Sayed. Rs losing Alaska and Ohio. The House easily Dem. Dems rolling in Gov races.

I think my favorite part of MAGA is that it traded normal white suburban voters for a grab bag of groups who were Dem leaning but against wokeism (a positive) and generally believed Trump was an economic talisman. MAGA BELIEVES TRUMP CONQUERED GREENLAND
During the United Nations meeting Tuesday, President Donald Trump signed a deal with Denmark and Greenland that gave us pretty much what we already had.
Trump has been obsessed with annexing Greenland, even threatening to take it by force. While he pretended it was about security, it was clearly about his grander Vladimir Putin-like ambitions to expand the United States, likely influenced by the way that the Mercator Projection map makes Greenland look much bigger than it really is.
“That’s what I feel is psychologically needed for success,” Trump said in January. “Ownership gives you things and elements that you can’t get from just signing a document, that you can have a base.”

Well, brilliant dealmaker that he is, all he got was a signed document. Beyond that, there’s nothing more than what the United States already had.
At the height of the Cold War, the United States had 17 military installations in Greenland—today it has one.
This new agreement allows it to build two more, which is still far less than what the United States was once allowed to have. But for some reason, Trump felt compelled to brag about “building two very major military bases” during his U.N. speech.
He gets very excited about things that have nothing to do with helping improve people’s lives.
The agreement blocks the ability of non-NATO countries from establishing a military presence in Greenland, which isn’t a thing that’s happening anyway.
It also requires Greenland to become a NATO member if it ever gets full independence from Denmark, which okay, cool? But it’s not a thing that can be guaranteed, as becoming a member of NATO requires approval from every other NATO member.
Still, given Trump’s hostility toward NATO, it’s a win for Denmark and Europe to force Trump into acknowledging the alliance as the key framework for Greenland’s security.
That’s how it was before. And now, thanks to this deal, that’s how it will be moving forward.
“After months of threatening our NATO Ally Denmark and disregarding the will of the Greenlandic people, President Trump has reached a ‘deal’ that essentially returns the U.S.-Greenland defense relationship to where it was before,” Democratic Sen. Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire said.

The Pacific has already had 3 category 5 hurricanes this season. Interesting that Uncoach didn’t mention that.

Man it's almost as if, yet again, you don't know what's actually being addressed. I love MR, but again he's relying on you not knowing the details.
1. Illegal immigrants working under false papers pay into SS, they get nothing out. That is the only thing that's been discussed here. Illegal immigrants. You understand that Rubio is not discussing illegals, he's discussing refugees (who are legal), correct?
2. Legal immigrants are lawful workers in the USA, and qualify for the same working benefits based on paying into the Social Security system. Legal immigrants who work for 30-40 years do receive SS retirement benefits ... because they paid into the system like us.
3. The laws on Cuban immigration are different than almost all other groups, meaning a Cuban at times can get legal and refugee status through mechanisms unavailable to others. This is anachronism of the Cold War. Perhaps we should change these laws, though Republicans would not be for that on a standalone basis (because Cubans vote more R than D). This doesn't make a Cuban illegal eligible for benefits.
It's almost as if the whole immigration system should be overhauled, which would require Republicans to compromise on some of their most hardline stuff (which is basically about legal immigration restrictions). I would like merit-based legal immigration combined with guest workers for lower skill work. I think our asylum system is terrible and should be overwhelmingly limited, perhaps via a yearly Congressional vote on which countries have citizens who would potentially qualify for refugee status.
I don't think many care the exact immigration status of someone here 3 months that receives intended US citizen safety net dollars.
So when the details show your argument has nothing to do with the discussion you are citing to, they are irrelevant. Gotcha!
It's no wonder how you missed what a flaming disaster Paxton would be. Those pesky details and realities.
Not sure how you drew this conclusion, but here's the issues:
1. Tariffs under Trump are largely a tax imposed here without legislative consent. That's really bad and unconstitutional.
2. As a tax, tariffs are idiocy. US goods generally do not face high tariffs (there are some exceptions), but general tariff rates were very low in 2024. Goods are not produced in other places by random chance, and tariffs simply tax the efficiency of producing goods in the least expensive/most convenient place. There's a reason heavy equipment tends to be manufactured domestically/in North America, while cheap crap comes from China. You may not want cheap crap (I probably buy much less from China than most), but many people want (or need) it.
3. Tariffs absolutely and unequivocally increase prices. Again, this is market perversion for almost no benefit.
I have no idea why it's hard to separate out something like a targeted tariff regime (which might be a net positive with respect to a specific good or specific country) with a general effort to impose widespread levies on imported goods. The former might be important for fair competition or national security; the latter is economic absurdity.
