This whole church thing has a whole new twist to paying players. Who in the hell is to know if a wad of cash shows up in the plate and how can you prove it.

This is still the same guy that stole that laptop and took the money in conjunction with his Dad. He is a little bit older than your typical high school kid- he should have had more of a mind of his own. Then again, he did use his mind and took the money.

I don't think it's a coincidence that all of these football players go hang out at daycares and Boy's and Girl's Clubs. Schools do this kind of stuff to make their players look good a lot of times.

I mean, the walk-ons never hang out at daycares. If they do, it hardly gets noticed.

You can prove it all you want. There is absolutely nothing that is NCAA illegal or illegal by law in giving a large sum of money to a church. Nothing they can do despite the coincidence.

Thing is, people go to churches everyday asking for money- usually it's "I need some money for some food for my family" or whatever and I guess churches aren't required to keep track of where their money goes since it's supposedly for "a good cause" anyway and the church typically doesn't ask for the money back.

All you have to do is find a minister that's a die hard fan of a school and willing to hand out the money. And I'm sure they are out there. Football recruing isn't addressed in the Bible as far as I know, although Jesus did trash a bunch of money changer tables in the temple, so I'm sure it wouldn't be looked at very favorably.

It's brilliant because it doesn't look suspicious, and more importantly you don't have the paper trail, and you drag Jesus into it. I mean, who is going to question people getting money from a church?

why even make a donation to the church? Just give it to the Minister under the table. It just has to look like a donation to a church.

I mean, why press your luck by getting a tax write off and having a paper trail? I guess they could choose to not claim it, I guess.

but if one does it through a church or charity it is more difficult to prove. If the NCAA could prove that Auburn boosters gave large sums of money to this church they could crack down on it.

All they gotta do is go to church there once, feel like Cecil is conveying the word to them better than anyone ever, feel convicted and send his church a large sum of money. Big deal if they also support the barners. Can't prove ****. Same as giving money to the AAU bball team. Perfectly legal, can't do ****.

on their donations that come in. Otherwise, they would run the risk of having some big time finacial problems themselves.

If someone looked at a church's books, and 20K is missing- that's a pretty big discrepancy.

If they had any brains at all, they would just give it straight up to Cecil, and if anyone questioned it, have them say that someone was donating money to the church.

The key is to make it look like a donation, not actually donate it.

the ncaa could crack down on it if they could prove they were giving money to Cecils church with the intent on his son going to AU..... but thats not laundering money... there has to be a specified unlawful activity and bribing a preacher isnt one of them, unless hes considered a public official....
