Congrats on what was a dominating win over Rice today. State definitely finished the season strong and Dak Prescott and Chris Jones are both beasts. I was just talking with another Ole Miss friend about next season, and I truly believe State and Ole Miss both have the opportunity to compete for the SEC West next year.

State brings back almost everyone on an already good defense and most importantly, Prescott.

Ole Miss brings back almost everyone, except will need to replace a couple starters on the O-Line (getting Aaron Morris back will really help) and Bo Wallace. I know Wallace has been the butt of a lot of jokes, but he will be one of the most experienced and accomplished QBs in the SEC in 2014.

The rest of the West, for the first time in a while, could be down.
Alabama - McCarron is gone. I know they are loaded, but he will be hard to replace. The could easily lose 2-3 games.
Auburn - playing for the national title, but were lucky to beat State, Georgia and Alabama. While they will be really good, they are no sure thing to win the west.
Arkansas - rebuilding, have shown nothing to indicate they can compete next year.
LSU - Mettenberger will be gone, and LSU is always so unpredictable with Miles. Could win the West, could go 7-5, who knows.
Texas A&M - Manziel will be gone. And their defense is atrocious.

Anyways, congrats on the win. I have no shady agenda with my post to try and steal a recruit or poison Dan Mullen. Just pointing out, that Ole Miss and State, for the first time in a long time, could both be very, very relevant in the SEC West next year. Should be fun. Hope you all have a wonderful New Year.

I think you're right. Just think what good records both schools would have if we played Ohio State's or Louisville's schedules.

Good post. I agree that State and OM can both be significant factors in the West next year. AL, Aub and LSU certainly aren't going away and they tend to just reload but no doubt it should be wide open next year. Will be interesting to see what A&M can do without Manziel.

It is definitely shaping up to be a very fun season in 2014. I would absolutely love for the Egg Bowl to mean more than pride for both teams in the same year.

Happy New Year Rebs. Hope you lose in everything against MSU in 2014 of course.

Thanks, I'll say

Arky was very competitive in several games, and had about 5 or 6 players on the all SEC Freshmens/All American squads.

Better watch out for them, as much as the Dogs!, etc.

WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR!
