I wish we could find a 5th year transfer for RT. I'd be looking at mac level schools to see if we can find a guy that is borderline on nfl radar.

I'd rather get a Juco to help at RT or we'll just be in the same spot or worse a year from now.

Me too but at this time I would think all the good ones are gone but it just seems a 5th year guy could kinda slip notice.

I think that ship set sail and sunk. But then, the only rumor I have seen was posted in this thread.

I think you have to pay drake Jackson next year. Yes, redshirts are great. But in two years drake has to start. I don't want him forced into that with no experience. You have to play with an eye toward the future. Let him backup center and guard. Call plays and be in the huddle with toth. Stoops is going to have to learn how to do a better job of that than he did with Barker. (Good news is he's been good at rotating other positions).

Depending on his improvement, Bunchy Stallings may allow Drake to ease in after a redshirt year. However, if that is even remotely the case, Stallings MUST get snaps at center tin 2016.

Tackles: Leavitt & Young. Guards: Big George & Meadows. Center: Toth.
I think Landon Young is best tackle recruit since Warren Bryant! Never seen a better high school heavy weight wrestler than Landon. Long, strong, great hip rotation, quick feet, very smart, and bleeds Blue! If Landon redshirts then o. line will be a strength position for the CATS!
Also think redshirt freshmen Logan Stenburg & Mason Wolfe will play.

I admit to having a nagging question about Leavitt. He's ticketed for LT but played RT at his JUCO, The guy who was his JUCO's LT is committed to Oklahoma State. Guess what I'm saying is he's coming here to be the LT but wasn't good enough to start at LT for his JUCO. Maybe it's not a big deal, all UK really needs is for him to better than UK's had recently and I guess they think he will be. Hope so.

Young is a better tackle than anyone else on this roster except possibly Leavitt. He will play next season.

If the guy on the other side was going to play at Troy, it would bother me more. But, your point is well taken.

yeah seriously. And maybe it just means that Leavitt is more flexible to play either tackle whereas the other guy wasn't. Sometimes you just never really know the why of things.

Partly to answer my own post...Leavitt doesn't have to be All-World, just better than what UK's had. If he does that much I guess he'll be fine.

The short sided view on roster management Is what got us here. Drake will help a lot more as a rs sr than a true freshman. Unless they think he could be gone in 4, you rs him. We have too many interior guys to burn a rs on 3rd string. Young probably is second strong at both tackles so go ahead and pkay him.

I really think that Leavitt and Young will be our starting tackles at least by mid-season.

Was the rumor started by a member of by a site expert?

I assume it has now been shot down.
JR said it was plausible but not confirmed. It was started by a regular subsciber. I know I'm kind of gullible. Can you blame for having high hopes?

Actually, on HOB he said it was plausible and did not have any further information.

I'm on HOB too, and he(JR) said with certainty that he had not joined the team. Never said it was plausible in the thread that I read on Jones.

From JR:
I can tell you with certainty that he has not joined the team at this point. I do not know if it will happen yet.

This was from the Jones thread.

I agree that offensive linemen need experience. How much experience we give Jackson will depend on just how much practice he gets during his RS year. Are we going to give the backup role to Stallings and leave Jackson on the scout team? If so then he isn't going to get as much experience. However, even on the scout team he can get up to speed on how fast our defense is. If he runs second string then he may get a good bit of experience with the first string guys and learn to work together with them. Either way, a good thing is that our offensive line is fairly young so they should be able to gel together over the years.

Toth will be backed by Zack Myers, Stallings is now an OG.

Will be the most talent we've had on the OL for quite some time but it will be YOUNG except Toth. Leavitt will need to be as good as advertised.

If we can survive for another year, maybe 2; we'll be in great shape.

If Stoops can avoid any more members of his staff setting the program back, I think he'll do incredibly well.

Seems like everyone is on board so far again. Tomorrow's presser with Gran and Hinshaw will be very telling.

Question: would Krok and Richardson both have started this past season at OT instead of Swindle and Meadows/GAA?

Doubtful although Krok was pretty much hurt the time he was here. Heard Richardson has given up football, don't know if that's true, but if his heart wasn't in it.........

He left UK for a girl supposedly. She dumped him soon after I think.

One name not mentioned at OT is Calvin Taylor. Understandable since he was a late signee from a small HS and is a project. Still at 6'9" and 300# he's intriguing. Watching his film, he shows good quickness and athleticism, just really raw. Doubtful he'd contribute this year as a RS freshman but could help down the road as he learns the game.
