Next year

I know we have a very important game today, but I was looking at our depth chart today realized we loose very few SR's off this years team. The major loss of course is Dixon, but from what I have read and have heard, Ballard will be a very capable replacement along with Conner, Perkins and Elliot. We return all but one of our starting OL, the only loss is Jenkins. Let that sink in, we return 4 of our starting 5 OL next year, an OL that has given up 4 sacks this year! The only problem I see next year is the inexperience at QB. That being said, you have to beleive Mullen and staff really feel good about Newton, otherwise we would be playing Russell or Stegall, just for experince. I wouldn't think Mullen would go into next year with just Relf, unless he knew we had Newton.
We return 8 on defense next year, the only real loss will be Chaney. We need have to land Carman, he along with Boyd and Cox will make our DL as good as its been in very long time. We have to hit the JUCO's for a corner, I am not sure we need two JC's corners due youth we have back there.
All this being said, we have a chance to be a VERY good team next year, but we must hit the JUCO's hard.

Actually, Tobias Smith beat out Jenkins and was listed as the starter before his ankle injury, so we'll really be returning our best 5 offensive lineman. We are 1 QB away from being really good on offense next year.

On defense I think you'll see Dennis Thames and Mo Langston contribute at CB. I'd also like to see another JUCO guy come in, but it doesn't look like there are many to choose from. The secondary will at least be improved over this year.

Don't count those chickens before they've hatched. Even if Newton wasn't a possibility, it'd be kind of silly to burn Russell's redshirt at this point. Save him for an extra year.
That being said, I truly hope we do get Newton just so we have another weapon.
