Totally with you on Goldwire. Wouldn't shock me if he started by year 2. He reminds me of Thornton in that video.

I think Carter Jr will lead the team in scoring, I love his game. Watched some of U17 games, Carter and Trent were very good. Tucker will surprise this board next year when he's averaging 15 mins. My question, will Bolden improve drastically?

In terms of talent, the Frosh class will compete.
Duval-OAD
Carter-OAD
Trent- possible OAD

Tucker-shooter with size. Not rated as high as Mike G (Duke/Cuse) and not the same handle, but can def have a role in a game. K likes to use players like this.

Alex-a scorer. Has that competitive demeanor and motor that allows him to get the respect of his teammates (again, not comparing, but much like Grayson did as a Frosh).

JG-a gritty, as first PG who defends well and is all about the team. Some are calling him a late bloomer, but he played 4 years at a very good HS and against other talented players.

To me, this is the type of class that gives Duke the best chance at success both immediately and down the road. K (and the staff) just have to be patient with the learning curve, allow them to grow through games and put them in situations where they need to compete.

Now add in Jack, Vrank and Javin as the bigs or stretch 4 and these 6 players (these three and the Fr 3 that are non OAD) in 2018-2019 can be the stability of the team and provide leadership to those 3-4 OAD guys that come in.

Yall are sleeping on Goldwire but that dude can play. He's a real point guard that knows how to distribute to his scorers. Just watch the highlights and how he made plays for his guys. I think he and Duval will and should handle all of the PG minutes

Wow...that kid is impressive. I just thought he was kind of an emergency backup for K to use but I really think the kid can play.

If carter leads us in scoring something bad has happened to the team IMO and Jordan looks really good too.. he's a great pickup that will surprise people

The starting 5 will be strong and the best we had since 2015. All first round NBA caliber players.

As talent goes:

First Tier
Duval - Early NBA lottery
Carter Jr - Early NBA Lottery

Second Tier:
Allen - plays well late first round pick
Trent Jr. Mid to Late first round picK

Third Tier:
Bolden- plays well - will be a first round pick

Forth Tier:
Javin - athletic but raw. Could develop into an NBA player with time.

Alex O. - Great size. Needs about 20 pounds of muscle but is a great athlete and can shoot and has a good handle. In three years could be an NBA player. Good SF/SG combo.

Fifth Tier:

Tucker - Great college player that brings size on the wing and can shoot. Not an NBA player. High floor, Low Ceiling. Can score. A type of player that usually goes to ND or Cuse that can shoot and causes teams fits.

Sixth Tier:

Jack White - Athletic and can shoot. Good Size at 6'7 220. Not sure how good he is since he is foreign player.

Vrank - A traditional center. Not highly skilled four year guy. Good backup center if need one.

Seventh Tier:

Goldwire: four year backup point guard.

Tucker will play over Alex O next year due to physical maturity.

K will play 6 guys major minutes next year and 7-8 will play 10 to 15 minutes a game given foul trouble. Duval is the key to the team he will make everyone better.

Good breakdown. I like Goldwire to be an All-American 3 years from now.

I think Carter leading in scoring is very possible. He is not the most athletic big in his class, nor the biggest or the quickest or any number of other measurables, but I genuinely think he is the most skilled and refined right now. Guys like Bamba will be taken ahead of WC in the draft because of their athleticism and long-term projections, but Carter will have better freshman numbers.

Maybe this is a joke, if so I apologize in advance, but I think we need to get Goldwire's expectations under control here. He should never start in his 4 years unless it's a spot start or due to injury. That's not to say he can't be a solid backup at some point, hopefully he will. Highlight videos can be very deceiving. Take them with a huge grain of salt.

All I said was I thought he could be better than Michael Jordan. I think his point was that Goldwire is a nice player but we might be getting a tad carried away. :)

He scored 20 ppg as a soph, so 25 isn't unthinkable for our captain and only senior.

I can't see it happening especially with a true point guard. He will dish it out evenly. Now who ever is hit will get the most shots on a given night. For Grayson to average 25 he's going to have to attempt about 20 shots a game. I can't see it happening.

It's hard for anyone to average 25 a game in college unless they are on a team that they are the lone star on. As a Sophomore Allen was the main guy on a team with an inside scorer most of the year along with Ingram. Next year it will be more balanced. Duval will get Carter Jr and Bolden more touches on offense. Trent Jr is a volume scorer on the opposite wing. Allen will probably average 18 to 21 ppg. Due to the balance of the team.

Allen also got a plethora of points his Sophomore year from driving to the basket and getting fouled and going to the line.

He won't scoring 25. Maybe not 20. I think maybe 18 which will be fine . I think we will have some scorers on this team. We would have had them last year if not for the injuries. OFC

Any of you guys that are on the money with correct predictions have a solid feel for which 18 recruit K and staff may land first this summer? Just looking ahead a bit.

25+ and NPOY with another ring and a jersey in the rafters

I don't see either happening. Well except the ring part if Coach K doesn't go to 6-man small ball lineup. Michael Porter will probably be national player of the year. Grayson definitely won't get his jersey retired. I don't think he's in the same category as those up there in the rafters. Nolan had a better career than Grayson. He's not in the rafters

No disrespect, but don't close the curtain on Grayson's career with one year to go....Easy to say Nolan had a better career at this point...(Although both have nattys and no one has ever played a bigger role in a title game than Grayson!) OFC

Grayson Allen will average 23.4 points a game this season and be a first team All-American. With Duval not being a shoot first point, it will open up plenty opportunity for Allen to get his shot. Duke will not have as many players who can get there own shot like this past season which is good.

Duval has a Westbrook type of quality to him without the abundance of bad shots. He should be dominate this upcoming season.

Im starting to think that O'Connell is the diamond in the rough in this class. The kid is great shooter with a great work effort. Not to mention, he had Mike Dunleavy'esqe growth spurt since his freshman year in highschool from 5'9 to 6'6. He may still be growing. Get him in a collegiate level weight program, he could be a star. He would be a perfect candidate to redshirt.
