What is the prevailing opinion on what the depth chart will look like, particularly at the O-Line and D-Line positions? I'm also interested to see what we'll have at linebacker.

WR2- Gabe Myles
WR3- Fred Ross
QB- Dak
RB- JRob
TE- Hutcherson
LT- Cole Carter??
LG- Justin Malone
C- Devin Desper
RG- Jamal Clayborn

DT- Chris Jones
DT- Nick James
OLB- B Brown
OLB- Zack Jackson
MLB- Richie Brown
CB- Will Redmond
CB- Taveze Calhoun

After doing some research, we return more than I thought. We obviously will need some unproven guys to step up but that's true every year.

OL and DL will, as usual, make or break our success. On OL, Senior, Malone, Clayborne, and Desper don't worry me. Johnson should be in the mix but he is an unknown. Depth could be an issue though. We really really need a JUCO tackle.

As far as the DL: Jones, James, Nelson Adams, Ryan Brown, and Jefferson are a good core. Will Coleman and Johnathan Calvin add depth to DE. Plus we might sign a JUCO tackle. Need a couple of the redshirts to step up and we will be fine there.

I have no idea what will happen at safety. As we all know right now it's a mess. Best case scenario, Bryant and Peters can handle it but that's a lot to ask of a redshirt freshmen and a true freshmen. Not worried at all about linebacker.

We are loaded at the skill positions on offense and cornerback.

I think DL and LB will take a hit. We might be better against spread-option teams, but we will not be as strong up front for Bama, LSU, and Ark.

DLI - Ryan Brown, Nick James, Chris Jones, AJ Jefferson
DLII - Cory Thomas, Grant Harris, Nelson Adams, Torrey Dale
DLUknown - Will Coleman & Quay Evans

Ryan Brown should have one of our DE spots nailed down. Other is up in the air.

LBI - BBrown, RBrown, Zach Jackson
LBII - JT Gray, Gerri Green
LBUknown - Dez Harris, Jung

I really really hope zach jackson is not running with the ones unless something changes drastically.

We'll be going 6-6 with that line up. Putting Cleveland at FS shows you have no clue.

Concerning oline, any word on how Flowers, Thomas and Warren progressed through the fall?

No clue?

I definitely have a clue and based off of what we have in the secondary everything is up in the air until after spring ball... Based on the players available at this point not counting the signing class coming in this is pretty close. I put Cleveland in there jus as a second guy to fill any spot in the secondary. We have had several CB's in the past switch over to safety plenty of times

I think McKinney will probably be back. I didn't see any spectacular play out of him in the last several games, particularly the last game. But I thought all of our LB play in the Ole Miss game was unimpressive.

That's very convenient. You must have done the same thing for Zach Jackson - lack of other options.

Are you expecting Market to make a full recovery? Or lack of other options? Irvin-Sills to safety?

Are you hoping for enlightenment for Hutcherson?

Good guess at OL**

Zack Jackson will have a lot more experience than other LB's on the roster so based off of that and the amount of pt he got this season I placed him there. And Market should make a full recovery... Didn't Jay Hughes rupture his Achilles last season... I think he did and he seemed to be just fine this year so yes I do think he will make a good revovery. And you've only picked out a few positions out of the whole depth chart I put out to criticize... It's pretty accurate considering I'm not an actual coach for the team. You must be the new coach they're bringing in on the defensive side since you know everything **

So Josey ...

We'll be going 6-6 with that line up. Putting Cleveland at FS shows you have no clue.

Instead of insulting the poster and his projections, why don't 'YOU' throw out a lineup that's going to get us back in the CFP 'top four' next year?

I'll be curious to see how the defensive line shakes out. I think our personnel justifies moving temporarily to a 3-4. We're going to miss Eulls.

Do we move any of our WR's to defense? Mullen tries it out one way or another every year.

It's always pleasing to insult a poster rather than stake my own claim. But I don't see us getting back to the CFP "Top 4" for a while. But since you ask for a prospective depth chart...

QB Dak
RB JRobb
WR Bear
WR Myles/Gray
WR Ross
TE Walley
LT Senior
LG Malone
C Clayborn
RG Desper
RT Warren or Robinson**

DE Ry. Brown
DT James
DT Adams
DE Jones
LB B.Brown
LB R. Brown or Lewis**
LB Gray
CB Redmond
CB Calhoun
S Bryant
S Coman

Shump and Jiles. If this signing class holds up, there will be no shortage of RB's for the next half-decade.

There's like a two player difference between our "projected depth chart" and you bash mine... "Shows you have no clue"

Funny. I count "like" Hutcherson at TE who played a handful of plays all-season who doesn't fit what State wants to do on offense [From his profile: "Hauled in a season-high two passes for 20 yards against Pearl River on Oct. 12"],
"like" putting a player at LT who has very few game reps,
"like" putting a player at center who had to make another lineman move to center instead of someone who has been practicing at center,
"like" putting a linemen at RT who was a candidate to start the season at RT,
"like" putting slow-footed Jackson at OLB over true freshman player recording 10+ tackles during scrimmages,
"like" moving a CB trained for the past two years to play man-coverage to safety and deplete the depth at CB,
"like" not knowing the difference in recovery schedule between someone suffering a major injury in the last week of the season and not the first week of the season.

Man... You seem like a miserable person. He asked what do you think could be the lineup next year and I gave my thoughts on it. We both make a very similar depth chart in December when neither of us really have a clue what it'll end up looking like after an entire spring and fall camp. You act like I don't know what I'm talking about and yet I've actually played college football for 5 seasons. Obviously I'm not evaluating the talent every day at practices but it looks like we share some pretty similar ideas on who will be playing next season with very few differences on it. Get the sand out of your ***

Easy there, tiger.

We have two bohemeth DT's (1 and 1b, presumably), and I think our most experienced DT's have great pass rushing skills, especially Jones. He's of the same mold as Cox, and I always thought Cox was better suited in the 3-4... Which we ran half the time his final year.

That in addition to our LB corp being the best unit we have on the team, offense or defense, AND our secondary, specifically safety, lacking... Why not play 4 linebackers the majority of the snaps?

I'd also like to see how Fred Brown would do at corner.

Quay? What's the rumblings concerning him?

Joining the team in January. He's been showing up for games, and I guess he did everything to qualify and get back into the staff's good graces.

He's a talented guy, but the last time we saw him he had zero drive. I'm hoping the fact that he got knocked on his *** has changed that.

Anyone think we move Green to OLB because of his speed. Jackson hasn't done anything to solidify a starting spot except for experience. But he hasn't shown much.

Why are you such a dick

So many answers to a "why" question. Maybe because I can be. It is what it is**

Look, if dude wasn't just taking stuff and throwing it against the wall and hoping it stuck, I wouldn't have a problem. It wasn't just one position but multiple positions. It showed that he had not been paying attention to the depth chart THIS season.

You're an idiot man. I've watched every game atleast twice. The few big games early in the season even more because of the excitement around those games. I've played football probably more than you have and understand the game. I made a depth chart based off of what we have now and the experience returning. There may be 3 positions questionable and up in the air and just put names down that have playing experience. That's pretty logical and a lot of coaches like to play players with experience... That's a big thing in the SEC. The freshmen Gerri Green definitely will compete for the job because of his freakish talents I've heard so much about and Bryant definitely in the secondary. And yea you can say or do what you want it's the internet but it's funny because you changed out about 2 players off of my depth chart and say I don't know what I'm talking about. Just because I don't post everyday and hunt the board like a hawk to jump on someone's posts all the time doesn't mean I don't know anything about the game and this team. Btw just about an entire offensive line can be interchangeable and almost every line coach will tell players on the line to know every position to play anywhere... That's just something I picked up playing... Whatever though all knowing football genius

Congratulations. I'm sure you were a flag football all-star. I was just a no-talent nobody. But I did win a national championship on NCAA Football 2002.**

If you watched the games (twice) I'm sure you watched Hutcherson play. Oh, you didn't? I didn't see much of him either.** And I'm still trying to figure out what you saw in Zack Jackson to make you think that he was the person to replace Matt Wells. But no reason to beat a dead horse. I would suggest reading the pack more so you don't get so pissed off when someone calls you out on your blabber.

Do yourself a favor and listen to Rosebowl's Boneyard from yesterday. It talks about the depth chart and needs for next year. It's on the BSR link at the top.

You keep dancing around the topic... You literally had the same depth chart with 2 or 3 different players with some switched around on the oline lol. Hutcherson didn't have tons of PT obviously but considering his size and athletic ability he's definitely a possibility. Walley got the majority of the PT this season for a TE returning but doesn't have the size Hutcherson has and the only reason I have Jackson in there is because of experience. No one really on the roster as of now can replace Wells and immitate his play exactly how it was this season. Wells is a monster and could cover receivers on deep balls and defended the pass like a DB as I've said before on this board. I was a D2 college TE btw. Nothing really that impressive about D2 football but it's still some serious talent there.

I would be willing to wager that you don't have very many friends... You can't have a discussion without insulting someone. I feel bad for you man.
