No because that means they failed as a NFL head coach. See: Greg Schiano

If the Browns decide to clean house, I'd take Mike Pettine and his staff (Angelichio, Hafley, Joker Phillips). He's the son of a PA high school coaching legend and coached in New York so he'd be able to handle the media.

See Pete Caroll and Jim Mora Jr who's not done a bad job at UCLA. Just like any other category of coach, it depends on the person.

I've thought about this particular category but I couldn't really think of anyone. Though I'm not as familiar with NFL coaches these days because I don't pay as much attention as I used to.

You'd be passing up a lot of guys who had incredible college coaching careers with that attitude. Pete Carroll, Lou Holtz, Steve Spurrier....

Yeah, Schiano was definitely the only guy to do poorly LOL. It's far more rare for a college coach to succeed in his first NFL head coaching job than for one to fail.

The only guy to do poorly? Take a look at Spurrier's time in Washington or Carroll's 1st NFL stint and then say he was the ONLY guy to do a bad job

Not anxious to see Schiano come back - but would figure he would be successful ..a least moderately ....Maybe not quite as successful as NFL 'failures' like Lou Holtz, Steve Spurrier, Pete Carroll, Nick Saban, Jim Harbaugh

so, have to imagine that somebody would be willing to take a chance on that bag of low-value damaged goods Chip Kelly - if he became available.
John Harbaugh has been rumored - as has Bill O'Brien - buy I'm skeptical of them
There are some Assistant Coaches / DC / OC who could do very very well - you would just have to figure out which ones.

Hue Jackson was contacted by USC but the timing was off. He's actually a name I have thought of in the past but who knows if these current coordinators want to be HC in college football. He may get a shot to be NFL HC so might wait for that chance.

Failed NFL coaches going back to college are a much different animal in general than failed college coaches jumping to another college.
