It's weird that the tone of the issues that you bring up are negative, but that's what people in a toxic relationship do. They blame each other without looking at themselves. What does weight have to do with anything? That just came across as a general shot just to be taking one. With regard to law enforcement, the distrust is warranted when you look at history and how law enforcement is used even today. There has been a tendency for law enforcement and the criminal justice system to come across as heavy handed. When you have those issues over time, you are going to have distrust. Further, there are still issues in hiring practices and retention, however, I blame that on us more than your community. What I mean by that is the Black community has to become more entrepreneurial. You can't expect total fairness when you are going to another community for a job. For example, if you are applying for a job to work for my law office and you are competing with the son of one of my law school classmate that also happens to be a frat brother, who do you think I am going to hire. That is what a lot of you black professionals run into. It's an employment fact that a white male with a high school education and a criminal record will get a call back for a position over a black applicant with a college degree. That's just a fact. It's nothing to get mad at. Just accept the fact and do better if you choose to. Further, there has to be more of a focus on education in the Black community. This thought that you are acting white just because you are trying to do better has to stop. My youngest son would hear remarks all the time in high school that he thought he was better just because he was taking IB classes for college credits. Now, they wouldn't do it much to his face because he was a captain on the football team and was a starter on the basketball team, but he heard it and we have had several talks about it. So, that's a problem we have. However, if I can acknowledge the problems we have, why is it so hard for some in your community to do the same. For the record, the fact that I was talking about in this thread was the irony in two factions of the same group arguing over who is more or less racist. This NFL initiative has very little to do with racism at this point. It may have back during the Colin Kaepernick controversy, but Black have long since moved on. This is classic virtue signaling on the part of the NFL. A plea that we are one of the good ones. Sort of like how Time Scott keeps saying we are not a racist country to get the white voters he needs on his side.
