Disagree. We'll never know how good Geno could be.. Because his Jets teams and coaching were soooo god awful they aren't even in the same ballpark as what we currently have.

Case in point: Geno comes in for one game last year and has one of his best, if not THE best performance of his career.. Because the Jets have a defense.. And offensive weapons like Marshall and Decker.

Geno is young kind of a bonehead and will mske mistakes.. But man i wish we had him all last year to build up for this season.

I can't stress enough judt how bad those Jets teams were.. If it were not for a decent defense Jets are looking at 2 win seasons for Genos first two years. Which will absolutely kill a QB and his confidence.

Actually they had no timeouts to run it again and the Bengals knew they would pass it. Just a nice play by Shaw to play on top of the receiver.

It would shock me to see Geno Smith lead any team to the playoffs or the 10 wins Fitz got in 2015. I'm sure the problem hasn't been talent with this guy.

After the drama with the broken jaw, I'd also be shocked if the Jets didn't draft another QB next year to learn from Fitz although they don't seem to do well drafting QB's.

27 for 41, 250 yards, 2tds and 1 pick.. Believe it or not.. Geno had a better 2015 season than Fitz had to start 2016..

And while the Bengals are better than the Raiders.. Geno had no reps going into that game and was playing for his life.

Curious, did the Jets win the game?

I don't think they will sacrifice wins just to play Fitz last season then re-sign him this year. The reason must be he has better command of the offense or is simply a better QB.

Geno will get another shot also so time will tell.

They lost both, but That doesn't matter for this argument.

I think Geno was coming off of severe growing pains, the hardest sports media was calling for his head. And the punch was just bad form. Fitz is certainly a better "leader", and maybe that's all the Jets needed, at the time.

But he's not a better QB. IDC how many people will laugh at that statement.. but it's what I believe.

The problem is fans, mostly fellow Jets fans that I've been dealing with, can't wrap their head around the fact that the team, by and large, makes the QB.. not the other way around (unless you're Brady or Peyton). This Jets team is NOT the same team from 2013. Trying to compare the Geno and Fitz performance is useless unless you give them at least some semblance of the same team.

Only 5 QBs could have won with the Jets from 2012-2014... now? I'd say about 25 starting QBs could make this Jets team 8-8 or better.

I still blame Fitz. If the QB can get all the credit, then he should get all the blame too. How many times did he BARELY clear the defenders heads? Enough for 4 batted passes? That's noting new.. it happened all last season. He's wildly inaccurate.

He's a bottom tier QB and will be what holds the Jets back. If you ranked all 32 starting WBs, I'm taking at least 20 over him and the Jets are making the playoffs.
In fairness to Fitz, the Bengals D line is huge. While I don't have the numbers to back it up, I'd suspect the Bengals D line is top 10 in passes batted down at the line.

True.. I cant put all the blame on Fitz.. He did "decent".. But man.. He does have trouble putting an arc on his passes.

He had a lot of throws that he could've thrown better. I thought Dalton was clearly the better QB despite being pressured all game. The Jets would have won had they not made critical mistakes. It's hard to say a team SHOULD have won when they make those mistakes.

I think the win says a lot about the Bengals, but nothing we didn't already know. They went into a tough crowd against a playoff contender and won when they got outplayed in a lot of ways. The Bengals just find ways to these sorts of games. If we only we could say the same for our Cats.

Just to continue the Bengals DL size comment, Dunlap is 6' 6", Michael Johnson is 6' 7" and the guy who blocked the FG, Margus Hunt is 6' 8".

The Raiders though!

Pretty solid day of football honestly, and while the Titans are promising, they have a long way to go and are behind every team in the division.

I like Dalton a lot.. I think he's good.. Maybe gets rattled a bit. Maybe isn't quite "primetime".. Which has me thinking.. What don't the Bengals have? Great defense, great wideouts.. Maybe a lacking run game?

In other news.. Belichek just took a giant step ahead of Brady in the "who benefits from who" debate.. New England is ALL Bill and now #2 is Kraft/organization.. What QB hasn't done well there? Matt Castle was an outlier, a fluke.. But not anymore.

Bengals don't have 5 starters from last season's 12 wins with only Eifert TE and Burfict LB slated to return. The others are S Reggie Nelson, WR Marvin Jones and OT Andre Smith.

They also don't have coaches Hue Jackson OC, Vance Joseph DB, Mark Carrier DB and Jay Hayes DL.

Somehow, they found a way to win. Credit Lewis and the veteran players.

I am not a big fan of Dalton for the reason mentioned in bold. To me it is like us just being content to make the Music City Bowl. While it was ok for a time or two, it gets old pretty quick thinking that this might the best you will ever do.

I'm just glad the bengals won courtesy of nick folk missing an xtra pY and a field goal. A win is a win! Off to the steel city! I hope they destroy Pittsburgh

How did your team do?

The Browns proved again why they sucked. They should of drafted wentz who tore them up and now rg3 is out with a broken bone. Maybe they will get smart and draft a top qb next yr.

The bengals played scared. Sure the jets almost made the playoffs last yr but we should of won by more than a point. Thank you nick folk. Our oline sucked as well as a rush d. We gotta improve that if we want to beat Pittsburgh. I hope the redskins kill them. That rookie qb looked good for Denver as well being a 7th round lick. Lastly, I hope kaepernick gets booed big time tonight!

Tennessee was what I expected and besides giving up two defensive TDs we would have won.

Played against a tough defense and didn't get roasted and our defense looked very good too. I am confident we are headed in the right direction as well.

As far as Cleveland goes the plan was to gather as much talent as they could this year and get chances for the #1 pick next year to take Deshuan Watson. It seemed clear that was the strategy to me, but who knows......

They have solid talent around the ball and their defense isn't terrible so it should be one more draft and they COULD compete, but in Cleveland who knows!

* That was a great win for the Bengals. Kept fighting back and made plays when they had to.

I'm worried about both running the ball and stopping the run.

* Steelers looked fantastic. With no Burfict and probably no Eifert, I think they will beat Cincy in Pitt this week. 2 best WRs in the game should be fun to watch.

* Broncos surprised me by beating the Panthers. Both teams are good again.

* Pats beating the Cards without Brady surprised me as well. Unfortunately, they look to be the same old same old.

* Ravens D was strong, but they better find a way to score points if they want to compete with the Bengals and Steelers.

* A lot of teams appear to have terrible defenses this year. Could be some all-time records broken.

Typically overs hit at like a 70% clip weeks 1-2 then defense and injuries set in so I agree some defense are horrible, however they may not look so bad come week 4 either.

Steelers/Bengals week 2 sucks! Seriously any rivalry game befor week 4 are just badly timed.

Jets D-line maybe the best in the game. Grown men in there. Cincy won somehow. Gave up 7 sacks. Jets ran the ball very well. Maybe a bigger opening win than some think.
Next game with Pitt will tough. No Eifert or Burfict. Running game not looking great. But they usually play well in Pitt. Defense will have make plays IMO.
Pitt offense looks legit and clicking. Not good. Hard to tell about the Ravens. Browns look bad and now lost the QB.
Miami should have beaten Seattle. Arizona kind of choked in their game. Raiders may make a little noise this year. Their QB very underrated.

Bengals need to get pressure on Rothlesberger or they are going to have a long day. He is not real mobile anymore and they still can't seem to get to him.

Really like Tennesse's defense. If that young Oline can stay together I think this team will start to gel.

Not sure Romo will ever get his job back.

Jags/Chargers could be what everyone thought NO/NYG was going to be

Bengals didn't play particularly well and Pittsburgh still could have won the game, but that was pretty obviously not a fumble.

I rarely criticize the refs but HOLY **** that was a terrible call. How the hell did they not overturn that on review?

Would have helped if the Bengals coaching staff want asleep on that TD catch ruled out of bounds at the back of the end zone earlier in the game. That was even clearer than the fumble.

On a side note it's good to see Big Ben practices safe sex by wearing his glove after fingering Antonio brown

That one I don't blame on the refs. Live it looked like he was out. On the replay it was clear he got his knee in. Marvin should've challenged it. That's on him.

That may be the worst replay call I've seen. I mean you could t even go with inconclusive there it was that clear.

On the other hand, man that is why I gave up on Detroit and happy to follow a different team. It helps that it's the team that fought and fought and played defense until the end and came away with a win they shouldn't have.

Well this is shocking. Bengals fans crying about the refs after another loss to the Steelers.

Will say that Boyd non reversal was a shock. But Bengals would have still needed to score and convert for 2. Far from a sure thing.

So you're saying Bengals fans are being babies when what they are upset about is a fair complaint? Bengals didn't play that great, but they still deserved a fair share shake from the refs on a fumble call that was reviewed. It's not the reason they lost, but it was a terrible call nonetheless.

I'm a Steeler fan. That fumble call was horrendous and inexcusable by the NFL. I have no idea how that call gets missed with replay.

Thank you for the honesty. It was still a long shot at a Bengal win but I think Bengals fans are well within their rights to complain about that call. It was horrible.

That was a typical Bengals-Steelers game. Not particularly pretty but hard nosed and physical. Pittsburgh was able to make enough plays to win. When they get Bell back that offense will be incredible.
