will be playing the black national anthem before the national anthem at games this year.
Just have a couple questions that can hopefully be answered before this is locked
Why is there a black national anthem?
Are there some black people that don’t identify as United States Americans?
What the actual 17?
What is the purpose?
Can a white American kneel during the black national anthem and get called a hero, getting him a Nike contract?
We will never be united again.

I watch a lot less NFL the last 5 or so years than I used to.... I only watched the last qtr of this years Super Bowl and probably less than a qtr of the previous Super Bowl... prolly a combination of kneeling and penalties being called almost every play...

I'd never heard of a black national anthem until a couple of days ago, but it couldn't possibly be any more divisive. I suspect most Blacks haven't heard of it either, nor will they claim any allegiance.

Poem was actually written by a black civil rights activist in ~1910 to speak out against the racist Democrats.

But, facts don't matter today!

Irony is, most blacks and the ignorant will 'embrace' without having a clue 'why' it was written or 'what' it's about!

(You can go ahead and lock it up now.) Nobody is interested in truth.

No idea why a black national anthem will be played. Moving forward, should we have national anthems based on skin color for all groups(colors)? I honestly hope not, but it seems fair to do so.
Asia/light brown anthem, brown/latinX/Hispanic anthem, white Euro anthem, slightly darker brown southwest Asian anthem, erc etc.
That sounds absurd, hopefully it stays absurd and doesn't happen

I would be fine with not playing the national anthem before NFL games. Just stop playing it, it's really that simple.

I also wouldn't care if the anthem were changed. The current one is hard as 17 for 98% of people to sing well, so change it to something that sounds halfway good when a stadium sings it(if a stadium full of people is ever a thing again).

Playing a second anthem seems divisive to me. But I am confused by a lot of these changes and last week I was told I am part of the systemic problem, so what do I know.

Wt17 does that matter? Assuming thst fact is correct...so what?
Its about people from 110 years ago, the parties of over a century ago are different from the parties of today. This can be easily proven, so why even pretend they are the same now as then?

I’m not ok with playing the national anthem. It’s beautiful. Not saying you specifically, but if you have a problem with our anthem there are plenty of countries where you can go and sing there’s with them

What's black kids in Chicago getting shot got to do with black citizens getting shot by police officers paid for by black citizens (along with every other citizen that pays taxes). People have a right to ***** and complain if they are being shot by the police officers they pay to protect themselves. You aren't supposed to also need protection from the police officers you pay to keep the bad guys off the streets. The bad guys aren't supposed to be police officers too. That's not how it's supposed to work. Anyone refusing to understand this is openly admitting they enjoy a society where they get protection from the police and others don't.

I wonder when you will stop forcing **** that has nothing to do with the topic into threads.

Chicago is 17ing nuts with shootings. Some don't care about how precious life is.

That is not related?

This entire apologetic BLM movement was started over Black people being killed by one group of people in America.

Ya'll just keep moving that line to fit today's agenda because I was under the impression that All Black Lives Matter and All Lives Matter.

Don't act like it doesn't relate because it's hypocritical.

The black anthem isn't going to be played before every single game for the entire year. It's just before the week 1 games and it's not going to be televised other than a brief 15-30 second mention on the RedZone or SportsCenter. You aren't even going to be subjected to it other than that brief 15-30 seconds. Life is tough, go grab a snickers during that 30 seconds if it triggers you that badly.

Law abiding citizens have no reason to fear the police. If you don’t want any issues with law enforcement, don’t break the law or associate with anyone who does. It’s pretty simple.

I’ve never responded to anything you’ve said on here before but this is just freakin stupid! Don’t categorize all police as bad when it’s only a few that are actually bad. My wife works at a police department and my brother in law was a former highway patrolman now serving governor detail and I know quite a few officers that are just regular guys whom I know and like and are just doing they’re job. I have a novel idea for all the thugs that get shot by the police- don’t don’t do the crime and your *** won’t get shot!! You’re a damn moron!

Yeah.... to make it more in the theme of this board....

Memphis Tigers are putting a "BLM" sticker on their helmet.

https://www.foxnews.com/sports/memphis-football-black-lives-matter-sticker

I've seen some private individuals making BLM T-shirt's with the M being the Memphis logo. If State lays a black T-shirt on your stadium seat with BLMState, you will wear it.

17 that. It's ridiculous one can't stand against racial injustice, but oppose BLM at the same time. If not supporting BLM makes me a bad State fan, oh well.

That's not how it works for all of our citizens. That's the problem.

Breonna Taylor was sleeping in her own bed when she was shot to death by the police. Elijah McClain was listening to music on his phone while walking home from the convenience store after buying a tea when he was attacked and killed by the police and EMT's. Ahmaud Arbery was jogging when three white racists decided act like renegade cops and then be judge, jury and executioner when they murder Arbery with a shotgun. That town in Georgia didn't do **** about it until the cell phone footage was leaked by a lawyer two months later. Law abiding ain't got **** to do with it. Hell even non law abiding citizens aren't supposed to be shot to death by police officers.

Unfortunately, that’s just not always true. Largely, I agree with that but there are absolutely some bad cops who have make terrible choices when in pressure situations. Philando Castile is probably the most notable case to me.

Out of touch are we? How about an update. Of the 8000 shooting deaths of black people in the past year. 10 involved police and an unarmed black man. 6 of those 10 where assaulting the officer.

This does 2 things:

1- labels all police as evil falsely.
2- The message has been preached so long that it's now "Defund the police"
3- People become numb to hearing it over and over when we see actual footage and can understand the difference.
4- We have entered a phase that Police are retiring because they now have targets on their backs and city officials have done that.

Speaking of the parties changing, I’m not not saying the Kennedy’s hearts weren’t in the right place, but they were politicians and politicians do politics. They were struggling with the black vote when MLK was imprisoned. RFK secured his release. Since that day African Americans have voted 88% democrat. That is when the electorate changed and most black households after that had 3 photos hanging up. Jesus, MLK, and JFK years after all 3 had died. I’m not judging one way or the other, just stating facts.

While many voice their concerns with police shootings, perhaps more important is the treatment of minorities during all other encounters.
Frustration on the side of citizens is often harassment and targeting due to skin color. Stop and frisk is one of the most abhorrent policies and an excellent example of what needs to change. Racial profiling should not be accepted, much less encouraged. Searching people for no cause should not be accepted, much less encouraged.

I view this push for change as more than just cops shooting blacks.
And yet again- I am not against the police. I work with some police officers in my non-profit volunteering. My best friend, who is my brother in law, is an officer. I say this so the stupid claims of me having police can be avoided and actual discussion can be had.

Yep, and close to twice that many involved police and an unarmed white man. Somehow those don't get much media coverage. Police procedure reform for dealing with certain situations is definitely needed but the bad police incidents we have are not all racially motivated like some want to make it out to be.

Tell the whole story please.

Taylor:

A no-knock warrant was being executed. The no-knock can be debated, but the police did not single her out and go in guns blazing because of her skin color. It was her boyfriend that shot a cop first and they returned fire.

McClain:

This case in still under investigation. While the video was knock off, you can hear the cops state that "he's going for your gun". From the account that is public, it appears that he was handcuffed and restrained. In Colorado EMS providers are allowed to use Ketamine. The EMS gave him 500 mgs, about 180 too much for his weight. But the police was responding to a call and the audio appears to suggest he was resisting. The attorney for McClain's family, Mari Newman, says that medics had no right or reason to inject Elijah with ketamine and has asked for an investigation.

Arbery:

Cops did not kill him. So why even bring that up when talking about police?

You see the difference? We can have a conversation about no-knocks without calling policemen and women bad. At the same time, we can address why they were executing a no knock there. It was from investigating a drug dealer in which she had been linked to in the investigation. See how we can talk about both with out being over the top and claiming in these cases the cops are singling out a race?

But what you are doing pushes people away. I mean come on man... you just used a situation where the cops were not even involved.

It's not absurd to tackle all the issues if you are truly concerned with the problem.

I'm glad you are toeing the media opinion about my bandaid pic and subscribing to the Covid fear porn. My wife is a nurse in a retirenent community for memory patients and has already been exposed and probably will be again. She is negative and is tested every week. She also is diabetic but is still working every day. I gathered my opinion from her and her doctors, not some government mandate. If you think that face masks will stem the tide you are a wrong.

Do you know up until the black national anthem for the NFL happened I was a proud Centrist. I had too many leanings toward the liberal side to consider myself a true conservative or and too many conservative to turn left. I have felt this way all of my life not just recently to be socially fashionable. I was called a N* lover in high school because I spent a lot of time with, played ball with, hung around with, went hunting and fishing with, and invited my black friends in to eat with me and my family. Folks in the 70's in MS really thought a lot about what I did but I did not give a ****. Just like I don't give a **** if you share my opinion that ALL violence is related and should be addressed instead of saying we can't do anything about that while we are fighting this fight.

Now back to the NFL, we need to get rid of all the anthems, flags and mascots so we can just try to enjoy the game. It's supposed to be all about a game. College should follow suit, so should all sports to insulate them from the social justice fight of the week and leave folks one less area of our world to piss in.

You seem to think you know all about me from message board posts. I don't think I know anything about you and probably would enjoy a drink and some good debate with you. So tell me... Who is the real fool?

I'm out of this pissing contest dude. Have a drink on me.

Peace out
