Nice blog on buyouts by Veazey. This line in it is just sad.

The rise is best illustrated in State's deal with Tulane. When the original contract was signed on July 10, 1998, it was actually typewritten.
Nice to see that the Ninja is putting some pretty significant buyouts in these contracts.

"It's all designed to ensure that what happened to State in 2008 doesn't happen again. Prior to that season, Central Michigan backed out of a handshake deal to play State in a two-for-one, leaving the school in a tough spot to fill games. That helped spawn home-and-home deals with Louisiana Tech and Middle Tennessee State."

Can't you just picture 'ol Lar..."Hell son, we don't need no paperwork! Put 'er there!"

With a handshake deal, as Larry found out, the buyout is $0.

...is why Tulane's not on the schedule anymore for 2011-13. No wonder they were willing to go shop for greener pastures.

i mean the schools that got bent over on the buyout know that now....which makes negotiations for future games more difficult

And will be so long as it's the athletic department in charge of scheduling.

wasn't expecting LSU to pull out of their 10 year deal. I bet they wished they had kept the deal now. We would give them at least one high attendance game.

And as far as the typewriter, I guess LT had Polk write up the contracts for him.
