....very nice.

FOOTBALL, FOOTBALL AND MORE FOOTBALL

As you might expect, we have received TONS of email messages this week following last Saturday's football loss at Georgia Tech. Understandably, everyone was upset and disappointed with the loss. We are equally frustrated. No one hurts more than our football coaching staff and the student-athletes who play the game. They have put a lot of time and effort into getting ready for this season, and continue to do so.

Coach and I had a good visit Tuesday and he understands everyone's level of frustration, because he feels it as well.

But we want to be clear, our message will be consistent. It is our intention to visit with every head coach in our athletic program following their respective seasons to discuss those things that went well, and those things that need attention. It is incumbent on our administrative staff to support these coaches and student-athletes as they carry our name each week. Anything less would be professionally irresponsible on our part.

As a Bulldog Club donor and/or season ticket holder, you have the option to respond in any way you see fit. It would be our hope that you respond as our staff will, and that's to support our student-athletes and coaches.
Man, I really like that guy.

it was so easy to have this before Byrne. Just give the common joe fan what he wants to hear - even if it's a bold face lie.

...the timeline:

1) Saturday: State loses to Ga. Tech. in a blowout.
2) Monday: Croom mouths off on call in show: "I'm the offensive coordinator. When somebody decides that there needs to be a change, it is what it is."
3) Tuesday: According to Byrne, they have a "nice meeting."
4) Wednesday: Croom says that coaches will be evaluated at the end of the year, and if a change needs to be made, he'll make it.

Sounds like they had a good discussion.

having byrne address the fans on a regular basis is a very nice change of pace. i wonder if croom actually apologizes in meetings like that for shooting off at the mouth. you know since he is "such a nice guy" and all.

I think Crxxm's been put on notice that this **** can't continue. And reading between the lines of Byrne's e-mail, it looks like he's almost telling us that he can't publicly criticize Crxxm during the season and we just need to be patient until the season is over.

on your #4, I wonder if Croom, at least in his thick head, thinks he went that far with his comments. Knowing him, he'll hedge that he went that far.

Basically, "I'm tired of this **** and y'all are tired of this ****, so buy my *** out and put us all out of our misery."

change in coaches (Woody) or making a change in coaches (Croom)? He's now on record as saying that he (Croom) is the OC. Does that let Woody off the hook and that he is no longer in the picture? Are we now talking about Croom and only Croom? It may be that Croom is thinking very hard about the possibility of resignation, and would settle for some kind of buyout along with a resignation.

...because if things continued to go in their present direction, there would be a change at the end of the year of some sort.

having a coaching position on the MSU coaching staff is NOT just about a friendship club or affirmative action for black coaches, its about performing a job and putting a competitive SEC product on the field every week that people who fork out big bucks to come to the game can take some pride in and be entertained. If an assistant coach can't accomplish that then he needs to go find another job. There is no pride in losing to a bad OOC team like LT and getting run out of dodge by an ACC team and there is no entertainment in watching an offense that can't score. I just get tired of Croom's bullheadedness and would love to here him just say one time that he will make whatever changes are necessary to make our program better EVEN if it means scrapping the current offensive scheme. I think a 5 year trial on the Croom version of the WCO is long enough to bring in a verdict.

playing this very strategically. Let's look at it......Byrne can't make any definitive statements until the end of the year, so the ones that he makes are all pretty non-committal with a little bit of faint hope baked into the press release. But reading into the blank spaces and innuendos, gives us the very firm impression that action is being taken. All 4 of Downtown's points are right on the mark. And consider this--coming out with this is just turning the flame up a tad under Crooms' ***! Now the biggun's bidness with Byrne is being laid out in the open for everyone to see...and the AD is actually tacitly encouraging fans to do as they wish about their displeasure! That's just too clever. We may not even have to pay a buyout....he may be just sick enough of everything the fans are throwing at him this season that he will just quit in extreme frustration and humiliation.

_________________________________________________ No one hurts more than our football coaching staff
I like everythning except for that one small part. I get sick of people saying that no one hurts more or feels more frustrated than the coaching staff. Why, because their 6 or 7 fiugure salary is on the line? To me, Crxxm's $1.7 mil salary is why I don't feel any sympathy for him. There are people all over this country earning 10% of what he's getting who make a heck of a lot bigger contribution in their field of work.

When you can get 50,000 people to pay and watch you dig ditches, you can use that analogy.

Croom to fire Woody. Croom refuses and negotiates a buyout, saving us millions of $. At least that 's what I dream about.

From a neutral perspective, GB said a lot in that email that I would be encouraged by if I were an MSU fan. It's a pretty clear warning shot across Croom's bow.

catches my eye..

He is basically saying, "look.. you paid a lot of money for a piece of **** product. I can understand if you do not want to come see it"

I mean he ends it by saying come to the games. But that, to me, reads like he is almost encouraging people not to come to the games.

I think he is saying "I understand your frustrations but in the end, it's all about supporting your school". I doubt he wants 25K for the Vandy game.
