Nice game by Kodi...

2 key baskets down low when UF was making their run. Also, Osby was really productive in limited minutes. I know we all like Phil's hustle, but with his limited offensive skills, it's getting to the point where I dread him taking minutes from Kodi and Osby. Phil's not even that good on defense because Stans relegates him to the 4. I would have no problem with Phil being a defensive sub at the 3, but thats not how we use him.

Good gameplan by Rick. He might struggle to make in-game adjustments, but that was a really nicely executed plan by our coaching staff and Kodi brought the solid offense like he did last year in the tournament.

Barry Stewart really had a good game.

Hats off to the team and coaches.

we aren't going to out scheme anyone. It just comes down to making perimeter shots. But on D, we changed some things up from our previous game with them. Their low post was not present at all.

granted that isn't saying a lot for us but I can't remember but maybe 1-2 times we took a one pass 3 pointer. And there were numerous highpost flash and backscreens on the post to get guys looks. More so than the usual top of the key ball screen and drive.

38% of our shots, I guarantee you people would have been complaining. It all boils down to hitting perimeter shots. If we are on, for some reason our offense looks a whole lot better.

maybe just the fact that we didn't attempt a 3 for the first 5 minutes or so is why I feel different about it.

Well.....we still have people complaining. I guess some folks just have a loser's mentality. They are most happy when they can say "I told you so".

but even though the end result was a lot of 3-pt shots as usual last night, I thought there was a big difference in how it was executed. We're a perimeter team and there's nothing wrong with that, but my frustration this season has come when our "offense" has been Dee, Barry, or Kodi dribbling the ball down the court, waiting for a little nudge screen, and then jacking up a 3. Not to mention Phil's 35 footers game after game. Last night, I felt like there was a lot more motion to our motion offense and even though it still ended up in a lot of long shots, there was enough movement to where a lot of our shots were wide open and sure enough, we made a lot of them.

We seemed very comfortable last night, and I wish they could have played like that more often this season.

like previously stated, we didn't make one pass and fire up a 3. we actually penetrated and created an open 3 for someone. we weren't taking contested three's all night because "we are a three point shooting team." I saw several guys pass up only slightly contested three's to find a better look. Our shooting was better, yes. But it was only better because the three's we took were wide open threes.

the difference was our D was a lot better against Florida than against TN and consequently Florida's O was a lot worse.

Edit to say - don't feel like you can't argue with me. I can be wrong.

This is what is so hilarious when people say we "don't run an offense". When we hit our shots, Stansbury looks a lot smarter. It's not like we start running different sets - it's the same thing. The biggest difference last night was our defense. We were out there busting our *** on D.

that we don't normally do. Screens away from the ball, flashing from the high post (earlier post), etc. We did this some early against Kentucky also.

The thing is that with a good perimeter shooting team, it should open a lot up. They have to come out and play you which stretches the floor.

We played well. I hope we cant keep it up and on into the tournament.

Yep, when we play defense we win. That is what happened in the SECT last year. We played good defense the entire tournament. Heck, we scored 80 points against Auburn but lost because of our craptastic defensive showing in that game.

If we play defense today like we did last night we have a shot. We can't get into a shooting contest with Vandy at "home".
