Nice statement from Lemonis.

I think I saw some guy sitting on his bucket up on HWY 43, north end of the reservoir fishing.

For all his faults and everything surrounding the program the last few years, I'll always be grateful for Chris Lemonis. He scaled the mountaintop that no other coach could. I do think he's a good man, but the program just got away from him after '21.
He just happened to be there at the right place at the right time & most importantly with the right players. That was easily the best group of players we’ve ever had.

No other coach got us a Natty and that awesome feeling watching those close wins and the blowout of those Vandy jerks. We'll get over the last couple of years and he'll get his name on something at State because he deserves it.

Honestly not sure what you mean. There certainly weren't 4 future MLB All Stars on that team like the 85 team.

There isn’t much to say other than this. We’ve all been dragged through 4 years of frustration, but given a little time, all I’ll remember about him is that he brought us a CWS ring and even better, did it against Vandy at the absolute pinnacle of their Opportunity Fund era.

He’ll be cheered when he returns to Starkville one day

No, it wasn't the best group of players we've ever had but that team had one player in particular (Bednar) that was unstoppable at the time.

Th 1989 team was the most talented team top to bottom, that I ever witnessed at State! Too bad that season ended in Starkville at the hands of a very hot pitcher!

He reminded the team they were built for peaking when it matters most, what? If we now back into another regional, he’s already claiming credit. What he doesn’t see is that this team should’ve been built for being a lock for hosting, and in contention for a national seed, but he can’t do that with his own recruiting and coaching. I’ve been sick of this clown for a long time, and he just reminded me why…

The 85 team had nowhere near the depth of talent the 2021 team did.

I'm not going to argue this with you because nothing will be accomplished. I'll just say I don't think the championship team had better talent overall than a number of other Mississippi State teams. So we disagree. Shocking here at SPS.

THIS is the correct answer. That 1989 team was the best collective group to ever don the maroon/white. I don't think I've been more disappointed in a MSU team losing (and that's saying something) than I was after that final out against UNC. Man, that one hurt. I thought we had the team to finally win it all.
