...before losing 8-7 to a walk-off HR. The guy they'll throw Friday night is a 6'1" senior righty. In his opener he struck out 11 of 20 batters in 6 innings against Chicago State.

The guy they started last Saturday was their Friday starter in '08. 6'5" sophomore RHP with an '08 era of 5.82.

Their Sunday guy may be a 6'3" junior LHP... juco transfer. He threw 5 innings and struck out 6 while walking 4 and giving up 1 run.

....While not the best team we'll see this year from the state of Louisiana, I bet they'll be pretty good competition.

Nicholls State isn't that bad. If we take 2 of 3, we should be happy. That Sunday game might be tougher than expected because we don't have a clear cut starter. That might be the deciding factor for us this year. We need to have 3 guys that we know for sure will be starting the weekends for us. Hopefully Routt will be that guy. Bowen, Moore and Routt wouldn't be too bad.

in 6 games against bad competition. Fortunately, that includes Collins, Adkins and C. Powers all hitting below .230. We know those guys can hit. We are also without Hogue and Freeman.

But right now our bats are a concern so this weekend could be tough.

Fortunately, we are still finding a way to plate runs, averaging 7 runs a game. Billy Beane loves us.

I think our hitting becomes stronger and our pitching drops off. I think Bowen is more of a Sunday guy and the jury is out on Moore and Routt being SEC weekend starters over the entire season. They might be thrown into the fire. Our offense will improve in production with Hogue coming back and a healthy Freeman. Powers is hitting .200 and that should improve, but he doesn't have anyone around him to protect him in the lineup. He is basically our only true homerun threat. The fact that our bullpen is struggling and we don't have a closer is my biggest fear. We might have a 4-1 lead at UGA on a Sunday trying to take the series and lose 7-4 because of this. I see a lot of platooning coming around. Polk should be burned at the stake for leaving this team so depleated on the hill.

I hope they can get the hitting going this weekend because they will need it against Nicholls and at Hawaii. I think Bowen will be solid at the Friday spot, but I'm still concerned about Saturday and especially Sunday. I know that Routt had a great game last Saturday, but it was just one game. I'm not going to be sold on him until I see a little more. And the Sunday position is just a toss-up right. I read on were Cohen is hoping that he won't have to use Crosswhite before Sunday so he can get the start this weekend. I'm thinking that we take 2 out of 3 this weekend.
