Here you are a big-time recuit as SPS...where everyone assumes you are heading to OM because that's what you are supposed to do. People are recruiting you "just in case" but most realize they know where you're probably going. But since people are confident in your destination you don't get much hype or "love".
Meanwhile your buddy K. Market actually wants to MSU who is basically keeping him warm and hasn't offered.
So you hatch the plan. Starts with letting someone know at MSU know that if they'll offer Market you'll come along as well. So MSU agrees and offers Market...who immediately accepts. Brassell then releases the shocking statement that he's committing to MSU as well.
Both MSU and OM fans are quite confused. Pogue calls both of them in and asks them what the hell they are doing since he's well aware of who butters his bread. Brassell lets him know it's all under control and they play the PR game. OM quickly offers Market...given them a safe landing if they so choose.
So part one of the plan is a success - Market now has two SEC offers.
Next up Brassell is having to take some heat from the locals, but the flip side is that he now has negotiating power on what it will take to get him to OM b/c he now a MSU commit and has thus upped the ante.No one can call his bluff b/c he's already committed to MSU and he knows a lot of folks just won't sit by and let that happen.
So he's played this thing beautifully..both him and LP haveprobably gotten more than they normally would for him signing with OM and Market has two SEC offers including the school he actually wants to attend in MSU. They know it will look bad for MSU to pull Market's offer b/c that would mean they would basically never get in good with a SP player for while. But he does have the OM offer if he wants it.
So now it will be interesting to see that if Brassell does indeed put on the OM hat on Saturday as expected, what will Market do? Stick with MSU or go to OM as well?
The double downside for us is that he and Tobias seem to want to play together but I get the impression that Nick is the alpha dog there. Which is bad for us b/c I think Tobias actually might want to come to State a little bit if he had neutral peer pressure.
The other alternative is that Nick was just not very bright and committed to MSU for no particular reason and had no idea the hell what was about to be unleashed upon him. I find that hard to believe.
