There's nothing to worry about. It's not like Calipari is showing us he lacks faith in the frontcourt by continuously recruiting additional big men.

Doesn’t mean a lot in terms of his confidence. If he had Wiseman committed and say didn’t have Richards, I bet he’d still be recruiting another big man for depth purposes. I think Richards will be much improved this upcoming season.

I have every reason to believe that Richards will be an improved player next year. The coaches will be working with him, he will be practicing against our other big men, and I'm sure that he wants to get to the next level.

I am not a huge Nick fan as a player. Seems like a great kid. However, he gets lost where he is on the floor at times. Seems to have little real basketball IQ .. Is really a catch and dunk guy without a low post game and hasnt developed a mid range game on defense does not really have the timing to be a great shot blocker despite a great wing span.. BUT hes only played limited minutes in two years, has not played basketball that long in life. So I think he has good upside and will be better this year. If I had to guess I would say 15-18 minutes a game guy...

Richards was great in terms of per minute production. He led the team in rebounds/40, blocks/40, and was one of our most efficient scorers. His issue is that he has a nasty tendency of doing something stupid that annoys the crap out of Cal, putting his butt on the bench. Missing a rebound, making a bad defensive decision, and committing a dumb foul is enough motivation for Cal to reel him onto the bench. The good news is that awareness and decision making are areas that are quite sensitive to experience. If he adds that processing component to his current tool kit, he'll be a very productive player.

God did not make everybody the same. As other posters have pointed out sometimes it takes big men longer to grown into their bodies and learn the game. I think he will be fine.

My expectations for Richards: around 6ppg, 6rpg, 2bpg in 15-17mpg.

He probably starts. Montgomery starts beside him at the 4, but slides over to the 5 when Richards goes to the bench with Sestina playing the 4. Whitney and Brooks also play some at the 4 in a small ball lineup. (Note: this is assuming we don't add Dante for this season.)

I think our most effective lineup on both ends of the floor ends up being Hagans, Maxey, Brooks, Whitney, and Montgomery. Spread the floor and drive to the rim.

Part of our issue of players wanting to leave sometimes prior to being ready is being recruited over. I think we will be fine with NR and I believe he will deliver.

I have seen people report that he has slow hands, he falls for EVERY pump fake, he is extremely foul-prone and his motor is slow. Two of those things are changable, and the other two are correlated with his physical makeup.

I rest my case. Amazing Richards returned in spite of ingrates like you. All of those can be improved and were from his freshman year. Clearly some fans are unworthy of his efforts.
