His OOC schedule this year is pathetic. Virginia Tech, Colorado St., Georgia St., & Chattanooga. Good lord. Our OOC schedule last year that we caught hell over wasn't any worse than that.

they work closely together in trying to get 9 conference games, play only BCS schools , etc. It benefits Slive and the SEC for TV $. You can see how they push each others agenda - Slive and Saban(Alabama football) -if you watch closely
Barely. MTSU won 8 games last year in the best mid-major conference in the country last year. VA Tech won 7 in the worst major conference. Troy & Colorado St are close, with Troy probably slightly better. Plus 2 bad I-AA teams each (yeah, I know 1 each is a transitional team, but they're still low-level I-AA quality teams).
Here's what I think it is. The new SEC Network and ESPN will have the rights to ALL the SEC games including OOC (CBS picks the first game). So the SEC wants the OOC games to be with decent Power6 conferences potentially forcing those states to carry the network on their cable plan or to sell it somehow. These will be highly watched games on the SEC Network making it a must own cable channel for not only the states that have an SEC school in them but for another 10-20 other states as well. Imagine the cash flow for the SEC, ESPN and SEC Network if instead of 11 states with the network you have 35 states with it. There's BILLIONS of dollars to be had here if they can force the country and their cable providers to carry the SEC Network on everyone's basic cable package. How do you do that? Make the 4 OOC games that the SEC has the tv rights to with major conference schools and the opposing fans will be FORCED to carry the SEC Network for an additional $1 a month or pay $50 for a Pay Per View game. Either way the SEC just made bank of your school playing an SEC school. Welcome to the new professional football league better known as the Southeastern Conference.
I think you're making a lot of sense. It's going to be real interesting to see how the SEC Network is implemented. There's already talk that the SEC is going to put some of the biggest games on the SECN instead of on ESPN to force carriers to pick up the network.
