There came a point in history of Hollywood where the film making founders lost control to the lawyers and accountants. That's what's been going on in NFL. The Rozelle 'football guy" has been replaced by the souless bean counting marketers like Goodell who now make you watch TWO commercials on nfl.com before showing you a highlight. A fan is just another bacterium to be cultured in their lab dish.

Actually the Bills and Jets Thursday night uni's aren't awful. The Browns new ones are atrocious though, especially the names down the side of their pants. Why go orange when you are the only team in the league that has BROWN in your color scheme? I really hope this doesn't become the trend in the NFL too.

Didn't Cleveland often wear orange and brown already? The jerseys are still brown.

college jerseys can be funky once in a while (special games, special rivalries, holidays, etc), nfl jerseys should be classic

I really like jets and bills unis tonight. I like the color vs color. No need for white unis after the invention of color tv!

Is it Christmas Eve??

They look like Christmas elves!

BAHHAHAH!! What a joke
Moz my wife just walked in the door and she says, "O are they doing this for the Holiday's". LOL They look like sh*t. I'm glad the Giants are done with Thurs. games. Nike just goes to far, keep this crap for Oregon. NFL is selling out with this crap keep it traditional they make enough money they don't need to sell more jerseys. For anyone who likes these go watch Star Trek this is football not a fashion show.

Once universities, the pillars of tradition, whored themselves out, it was only a matter of time before the evil empire followed.

I am only 38, but God I miss the 1980s.

Was a PR guy.

So who knows what he would be doing if this was his time now.

PR is ok...a good PR guy wouldn't be getting people to hate the NFL. Is it good PR to bring people to your site and make them watch 2 video commercials to see a highlight? Is the extra coin really worth it? I don't think Pete Rozelle would have blocked the Border Patrol from taking print ads in programs either - while saturating football in gambling and cancer.

Pete quotes:

"People are interested in pro football because it provides them with an emotional oasis; they don't want football to get involved in the same types of court cases, racial problems and legislative issues they encounter in the rest of American life."

"I'm not saying that the press is wrong to report any internal differences we have, but at the same time, I think it's our job to keep them from becoming public issues, for anything that detracts from the purely athletic aspects of the sport is bad for us.

"I'm not claiming that football is the nation's salvation in this area, but it's one of them, one little thing that apparently has captured the imagination of a large sector of our society. But when football can't be a relatively pure outlet, a fun thing, then it hurts itself."

Rozelle had it right years ago. The Rozelle quotes presented certainly illustrates how far off center the game has become. I too thought the same regarding the Christmas reference. Also reminds me of the Italian or Mexican flag. Just needed the referees out there in white!
