Coach Cal is probably hoping that the May 20, 2020 one-time transfer rule goes ahead this day and passes. If it does passes on May 20, 2020 I am sure Cal has a couple of big men in mind to bring in for the last scholarship on a Center!

I think Cal has been trying to move in a different direction for several years now it just has not worked as he probably thought it would.

Look at guys like Herro and SGA who "over performed" their rankings and gone in a year. When they were signed he was probably thinking they were at least two years guys.

You then look at other recruits that transferred instead of coming back like he probably anticipated....Humphries, Quade 5*, SKJ, Wynard, Baker, Juzang, Matthews, etc. He was recruiting several 4 star guys to fill out roster but they didn't stick around.

Tack that on to guys leaving before we thought they should have and there you have it. Vanderbilt, Gabriel, Diallo, EJ, etc.

Now it appears as if he is future proofing rosters. I like the approach.

This fella has almost 1500 career points. That is some serious experience if we can bring it in. Landing a transfer is big because you are likely getting someone who isn't going to transfer again. Nike would only have one year and maybe Toppin is ridiculous in one season and leaves but it is definitely worth a shot.

You are correct. We have 10 players on scholarship right now, but he said sign this kid and Anselem ~ bringing the total to 12.

Cal knows how green and thin we'll be this year. That plus the usual exodus after this year will leave us with almost nothing for the year after. He's trying to backfill for the next few years.

I like that Cal is trying to address the problem. Cal is nobody's fool. And historically, he's been adaptable. I believe we are seeing the start of a new philosophy

This might be a way around the "Johnny Juzang" transfer problem.

Get guys to come here through a transfer, have them sit out a year and learn the system, and then when they actually play, they're effectively already an "experienced" player.

Seems like a positive from that end. If they pass the immediate transfer rule, it's still a positive because you're getting an experienced college-level player.

I like it and I hope it becomes a trend.
