From SportsBusiness Daily......... The Univ. of Memphis (UM) athletic department "will receive $660,000 per year" as part of its five-year, $11.3M apparel deal with Nike, according to Jim Masilak of the Memphis COMMERCIAL APPEAL. Per terms of the agreement, the final details of which were released this week, UM also will receive a "total of $1.5[M] worth of footwear, apparel and other related goods each year from Nike." Since the Tennessee Board of Regents "approved the deal, the school is also due to receive a $500,000 signing bonus by the end of the week." While UM AD R.C. Johnson said that he "expects part of the school's cash allotment to go toward compensation" for UM men's basketball coach John Calipari and football coach Tommy West, the exact amount has not been determined. Masilak noted the $660,000 annual figure "would drop to $400,000" if Calipari were to leave the school during the life of the contract. Calipari and Nike signed a separate contract that "will presumably provide the coach with additional compensation for personal services." Nike's sponsorship benefits include "eight lower-level tickets to each home football and the same number of seats at all regular- or postseason, home or neutral-site men's basketball games." Once a year, Nike "will receive an additional block of 22 prime seats for a predetermined home basketball game." The company also will provide $10,000 worth of apparel for UM's Ambassador-level donors, who this year "will receive a pair of Nike track suits with the Ambassadors Club logo".

Unless I'm dreaming, I believe that Bulldog Club Donors who contribute $15K per year can go to a hospitality room before basketball games to have chips and soft drinks. Those are some freakin high dollar Fritos.
