Brother Rhule asking the Husker nation for more money but yet he’s paid more than all of us. Did that man take a pay cut to help the athletic department this year when the department needed it? No the man asked for more. The highest state earning employee.

what did Fred do? Take a pay cut at one point. He cares to win and that’s why he’s winning. He also has integrity and honor

Can’t afford a RB? Take a pay cut fat a** and do what you said you would vs putting more and more financial burdens on the department in areas that WONT help.

I used to think “well he’s at least a good dude”. Now I think he’s the worst of the worst. Con man eating the blood of the desperate.

And you people that don’t see the lies, that still believe in his gospel, you will hate him more than me. Because you believed

If you've ever read the Carolina Panthers sub on reddit, they certainly agree with you.

Phrases like "used car/snake oil" salesman are rampant, along with one person's description of Rhule as the "personification of small dick energy".

Oh he reeks of SDE. He jumped ship right after minor success. My hope is the stars align, he gets some super easy schedule and goes 10-2 one year without beating anyone of substance and runs to his next mark. I’ll welcome the HBK of the worlds “I told you so”

I’ll be like “sure buddy. You told me.” 👍

And just be happy the dirty preacher is gone and our good fans have a fresh start without the university having to eat a stupid payout

Yeah, that spring portal will be a huge game changer...

My god.
There are still teams who have several weeks to enter the portal. Then there are a ton of guys who haven’t signed anywhere yet. Somebody correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe the portal time restriction is on entering not on when you sign. I think you can sign later if you want. Obviously you wouldn’t participate in spring practice if you aren’t enrolled in classes on time.

It is mind boggling how many people (posters on here) continue to, not just give him the benefit of the doubt, but actually support and defend him. I actually sorta feel sorry for them. Sad that people can be that blind of sheep and incapable of forming an independent thought with just a little objectivity.

I'll hold off on any of my criticism until the staff is finished with bringing in transfers, Yes most of the best players who hit the portal have found new homes but there will be new names later on. After springs football you will see really good players decide they want a chance at a better payday and will leave once they get what they want per agents.

Is Matt Rhule holding back some cash or maybe he's soliciting for more from Nebraska Donor's, I don't look at this as a finished proposition for 2026. I do think Matt Rhule is a salesman and he's constantly trying to sell himself to our Major donor's and asking for further help in NIL dollars.

This is what colligate sports has turned into for most major brands, it's not about getting kids to commit for education first but rather offering money and hope for a professional career with bigger cash payouts.

Maybe it's time we just have these kids become employee's of the schools and do away with how many years they are allowed to play but rather just give them jobs. Crazy talk I know but it's crazy times right now. I just don't see an end to this madness anytime soon and there are a those schools who have the biggest donor's and they are the ones who will rule college sports.

The day's of wowing recruits with new shiny things are really not a factor any longer it's about paydays and moving up the financial ladder. jmo
Spring portal 😂 and I’m LOL at you thinking potato head Matt Rhule has some sort of genius plan up his sleeve. Dude has ZERO clue what he is doing, he’s completely lost in a league with top notch coaches and he always will be. His record spells that out plain as day.

Question…

Are portal players simply going for the highest NIL dollars
OR
are they looking for a total package (high NIL payment plus play for a program that has a legitimate chance to be in the playoffs)?

If it’s the second, then we will be missing out on a lot of people – even if we can play top dollar.
100% it’s a combination of both. Without hype/results you better have very deep pockets. Rhule has no momentum and our pockets apparently aren’t that deep. Maybe pockets aren’t that deep BECAUSE Rhule has no momentum? Would a new staff change that? Can Rhule pull a rabbit out of his *** and beat a ranked team on the way to 8 or 9 wins next year to get the ball rolling?

Nebraska wants the stable winning brand discount -- but is asked to pay the undesirability tax -- and it stings. If you were 100% confident in your coach you could get over it and pay the premium and buy your way out of this hole. If you weren't confident but prided yourself on being a big tipper, you could give the traditional Nebraska pre-firing extension, rug pull the NIL money for serious talent acquisition, and let him try to coach his way out. Hypothetically, of course.

Rhule could have afforded a top tier portal running back if he was willing to give up some of his bloated salary.

And let me tell you all something. I have lived in Pennsylvania since 1994. I am surrounded by PSU fans. My best friend is a rabid PSU fan. And I can say with one million percent confidence that had PSU hired Rhule there would have been a riot and Beaver Stadium burned to the ground. NOBODY out here wanted to hire Rhule, who they think is a joke. You don’t fire a 10 win a season coach and replace him with Rhule.

So what was our dumb as sh$t AD thinking when in a panic over the fake PSU news he extends Rhule? Any moron with half a brain knew that PSU was not going to hire Rhule. And media pundits who were saying that Rhule was a real possibility were also smoking something. But our AD gets paid handsomely not to make those kinds of mistakes.

My point? Rhule played us. He is a liar and a self-promoting manipulator. He doesn’t give a crap about us. Only cares about lining his pockets.

Not defending any of this as it truly is one of the worst deals I've witnessed in my lifetime with regard to Nebraska football (and that's saying something). But, to play devil's advocate here - had Rhule really had things headed in the right direction and we won out, he absolutely would have been hired by PSU and their fans would have been over the moon. That would have put him at 1 loss in his magical year 3, in the conversation for a conference championship, playoffs, etc and PSU would have been all over it, and we would have freaked out because we lost him. Hell even one more loss might have resulted in that. 10-2 by year 3 after taking over what he did plus he's a PSU alumn would have been any easy sell.

High stakes game of chicken. Dannen blinked...Rhule won. And the real losers are us fans because now we're stuck with him.

Well, this is 100% true and what I have always said. These guys look at it like a job, just like we look at our jobs as just a job. This is why it shocked me when dorky fans got mad at Bo for looking for other jobs and not wanting to French Kiss the fans.

The good to great ones have some pride in the results though. Yeah, they make a lot of money. But they want to win just as much. Some people have that "it" factor, regardless of the money. Matt Rhule clearly does not.

Maybe that means what you think it does and maybe it doesn’t 🤷‍♂️
If it does then he certainly got sold a bill of goods about how much NIL he had to use.

Yeah, you really never know when he's telling the truth. I don't even think he can keep them all straight. Let's play a little game of decode Matt Rhule's lies. We don't have a running back in this year's class despite losing our best player to the draft because...

A) We don't have the money
B) He likes the ones we have and doesn't think we need any more
C) Rhule couldn't get anyone even close to as good as what we already have because he sucks
D) A and B

Which narrative do you think Rhule is going to push? Now which one do you think is likely the truth based on his track record?

There are literally thousands of unsigned players in the portal and maybe dozens of P4 worthy guys still available. They can sign anytime up until school starts next fall if I’m not mistaken. There are also a large number of late signing high schoolers available. Couple that with the guys who may still enter the portal from these last playoff teams and there could still be difference makers a team could sign.
No spring portal? Guys are still available.

Ruhle said before the portal opened that NU could now go after the BEST players in the portal. Increased NIL pool put us in great shape. You all have seen the write ups about the players we have signed. You can make your own judgements if we landed "Top Portal players" or just a bunch of guys. Was what Ruhle said BS or do you think we got top players? Of course, time will tell. Seeing Texas tech get the top QB and D line player made me wonder.
#1 I heard at least 10 other teams make the same promises about increased NIL support, it is just speak for "investors can feel safe giving us their money", and #2: Nebraska always put the money into its facilities, the fans always showed out and we still recruit **** players. Recruiting still takes skill, would you encourage your kid to play for the posse leading Nebraska?

IF I thought my kid had a chance to actually play at Nebraska I absolutely would bless him signing with NU. He would have 4-5 years and who knows what can happen in that time frame. There’s no guarantees anywhere as to who his coaches might be.

Well they all want to win, I don't think that is the issue. The issue is fans seem to think that the coaches "Love the job" but again, it is just a job.

For instance, I went from coaching one school to another school. They were both just jobs. I liked winning and wanted to win but the name of the school wasn't important to me.

Straight up lying. Dingle, your kids would likely be doing something in law or medicine, and not be a skill player. There are a hundred schools better for professional preparation than UNL, and a hundred schools better for NFL preparation. It isn't an opinion it is objectively measured. NU has few NFL draftees, and fewer NFL contributors over the last 10 years, and is ranked very low as an undergraduate institution and isn't special in graduate studies, with most graduate students being from abroad anyway. To get to the NFL it would be better to send them to a dakota school or wyoming as at least wyoming and the dakotas have produced some good nfl talent. Hell, he would have a blast in Montana for sure, and have a chance to win something.

It takes more than one to screw up things so royally as NU. Rhule has plenty of blame though, he didn't have any guardrails, was given plenty of resources to hire good assistants, was handed one of the better defense rosters in recent NU memory. He absolutely butchered offensive and special teams coach hires, and the qb situation his first year. Then doubled down with our best team in a while last year, and was so stubborn that he cost us our two best coaches and whatever left over talent on dline that wasn't graduating. I am sure he "forced" a decision from Dannen, and Dannen did sure up that Rhule wouldn't leave with ease to a school less prestigious than Nebraska, and Dannen protected us from an Iowa state sitaution, for whatever that is worth.

The question wasn’t about getting to the NFL. It was about accepting a scholarship to play football at NU. I qualified my answer with being able to actually play at NU. What they wanted to study wasn’t a factor in the original question but IF they wanted to go into medicine, NU is a terrific option.
