In a galaxy far away, when I was laid off as the Apollo moon program was phasing down, I took a job with another high-tech company here, and left it after only one day, because it was such a horrible misfit for me personally. I didn't even have family involved in that. I was as yet then, unmarried.
I turned down another job offer in central Florida during that era, because I had elderly relatives in S MS who needed to have me within driving distance. I was unemployed for a year during that time. Some of our former rocket engineers were literally flipping burgers between jobs.
Sometimes, we all have to make the decision that's right for us personally.
GB was such a ray of sunshine after LT, and did so many right things, I only wish him the best.
He's given us pride that we can get the best and brightest to come to SV, andhopefully his successor will be in the same mold.
When I was a personnel manager, I always tried to hire employees that other companies would like to have, and didn't take it personally when they got a better offer from one of them. That's how you build success, by hiring the best and giving them the opportunity to develop while floating your own boat higher. Hiring people without ambition will keep you mired in the status quo.
