Also, I've never noticed this. He speaks exactly like Dan Mullen - just a pace or two slower.

It almost feels like when your girlfriend leaves you...then the very next day, she intentionally parades her new dude in front of you, just so you know how happy she is and that she was really too good for you all along...
So here's hoping you catch that new guy's vd Greg.

that it is a job for him. If you have ever changed jobs by your choice (wouldn't apply if you were fired) you are loyal to one company one day and then loyal to the new company the next day. If you don't feel that way, you shouldn't take the new job. I HATE to lose the Ninja, but I have changed jobs more than once and have felt the same way every time.

we all knew this day was coming sooner or later, I guess we were just hoping it was 2 or 3 years down the road.

simple as can be and he has said that several times including in the BDJ chat about his future here.

I dont get mad at him especially when you find out he didnt even ask for an interview with them..they identified him
as one of the best in the nation and would not give up on getting him.
Considering he has a lot closer ties to the state of Arizona..I'm guessing the family encouraged him not to pass on this chance.

It wasnt a money decision.

The only questions I'll always have was did he realize just what he had against him this year (football replays, Basketball officals, NCAA Sidney, and finances)
and decide things will never chance.

Yes, I've taken other jobs. But, I've not left a job 18 months into it while starting a whole bunch of **** that I didn't see complete simply because someone else came calling.

Yes, I know, it's a job, it's good for his family, yeah yeah yeah. I don't care. There was MSU athletics before, and there will be after. He did good things, but he didn't lead us out of the wilderness. We'll be fine without him.

Bottom line to me is he left 18 months after he took the job, and left a lot of **** he started in limbo. We'll lose time and money over this. And I think that's sort of ********.

But, it's done.

I have never had a job seek me out. Or done anything remotely as interesting as college athletics. Usually, when I change jobs...it goes...."I am tired of this turd bowl and these dumbasses." Find another job. Laugh on the way out.

Bryne may or may not felt that way about State. However, taking the job in AZ to be closer to family is legit. Anyone who has a family and has moved can relate. I don't blame him one bit for that. Sure, it sucks that he started a lot of projects and left. But he has to take that offer now. No telling if he would ever have that offer in AZ again.

but let's simplify it alittle more, "no wife = happy life," then you only have to worry about #1. Probably just me.

we all knew that this was a job to him as opposed to his "dream job" like John Cohen talked about when he took the MSU baseball coaching position. However I just realized that he was "that guy" while in school at ASU...the same guy that goes to MSU for school but really cheers for UM.

that drove him away. Because initially when they called he told them no and then when they came calling again a couple of weeks later he listened to what they had to say. The shaft Sidney got, the shaft the basketball team got in the SEC tournament, the shaft the basketball team got by being left out of the NCAA tournament. And that indian mound had to play into it too....damn indians.

he did an outstanding job here. Just watching that, I realize he isn't an emotional fan like me. And I knew that wasn't the case but seeing it, it just sucked to watch. Basically what I am trying to say is "I Love You Greg"....no...that's not what I am trying to say. ****.

We were lucky to have byrne for the 18 months we had him. At least he got two good coaches in while he was here. We'll be alright for a little while.

In a galaxy far away, when I was laid off as the Apollo moon program was phasing down, I took a job with another high-tech company here, and left it after only one day, because it was such a horrible misfit for me personally. I didn't even have family involved in that. I was as yet then, unmarried.

I turned down another job offer in central Florida during that era, because I had elderly relatives in S MS who needed to have me within driving distance. I was unemployed for a year during that time. Some of our former rocket engineers were literally flipping burgers between jobs.

Sometimes, we all have to make the decision that's right for us personally.

GB was such a ray of sunshine after LT, and did so many right things, I only wish him the best.
He's given us pride that we can get the best and brightest to come to SV, andhopefully his successor will be in the same mold.

When I was a personnel manager, I always tried to hire employees that other companies would like to have, and didn't take it personally when they got a better offer from one of them. That's how you build success, by hiring the best and giving them the opportunity to develop while floating your own boat higher. Hiring people without ambition will keep you mired in the status quo.

In his introduction speech at Arizona Byrne talks about faculty, staff, and students representing the school "in a first class way." I know he was unhappy, as most of us were, about the bottle throwing incident at the Kentucky game this year in the Hump. He might want to remember the person at Arizona who attempted, but failed, to throw a pie in the face of Ann Coulter while she was on stage giving a speech there last year. Maybe he could head such incidents off ahead of time in the future.

Just sayin'
