I was in Texas last week traveling and I rented a new Pathfinder for the week. I really didn’t consider gas mileage but flipped through the dash while driving and it had averaged 16.5 mpg over its 18000 mile life. That’s unacceptable in today’s world, heck my Jeep with 4.11 gears , a lift, and large mud terrains averages 19.5.
My Armada has the sнittiest gas mileage of any vehicle I’ve ever owned (including my 1988 Silverado). Other than that, it’s been a great vehicle.

We've certainly got precedent for it.

That's what sucks about these gigantic buildings way out in no man's land, hard to repurpose. At least if they are in-town, there's a population base to build around.
If you thought shelled out ex-Walmarts looked crappy...

The CVT transmissions have been a problem for Nissan for almost a decade and they took a huge hit with the failure of the Titan XL.
Just 2 of the reasons I have no sympathy for Nissan. Or GM for that matter. Ford is a close 3rd on BS component outsourcing.

Nissan CVT’s are confirmed garbage and have been since the start. Put it in everything from the Versa to Patfinders. Huge mistake. They kept them anyway. Reliability issues and re-sale values finally caught up to them on the new car sales. Suck it. You deserve it.

For anyone who says CVT transmissions are like that across the board, Honda outsourced some good ones with few issues.

The Titan XL was a very interesting concept that I even considered, albeit, briefly. Should have been named the “Nissan Minotaur”. It’s essentially a unique creature from Greek mythology that’s an “almost HD” truck (with an engine built by a legendary brand like Cummins) but turned out to be an absolute albatross that is unreliable and in some cases, impossible to fix. No parts to fix certain issues. Lawsuits. When it became clear that the entire drivetrain is a “one off” custom built for ONE application that is a nightmare if problems arise, people fled. Again, suck it Nissan. Tis the bed you made.

Slashing Altima production at Canton specifically mentioned…

When Nissan was taken over by Renault, it marked the downward spiral. 70's and 80's Toyota and Nissan were on a par with Honda. Now its just Toyota and distantly Honda. Nissan moved down market and quality and reliability went that way too.

I imagine we will see Nissan trucks and Infiniti cars and Infiniti SUVs coming out of Canton next year. Doubt they wil shift over to Honda Accords in Canton as well but you never know.

Ford had that issue too on a Freestyle SUV my wife had for awhile. They got that CVT transmission in the Volvo purchase and there was a huge class action suit. Ours sat rotting in the inlaws pasture for about 4-5 years with no progress on the suit. Ford wanted me to pay $8,000 for a new transmission in a 3 year old vehicle (same exact tranny mind you that was just going to have the same issue eventually) I said 17 it and got a scrapper to haul it away eventually, don't what ever became of the class action

I don’t know the situation there, but if I buy a warranty from the manufacturer and they give me static of using it, I’m done. You may think it doesn’t matter, but ibleedmaroondawg clearly sank their ship
I was just saying it was cheap and easy. The warranty part is BS. I would have asked to see the fine print at that point that says the blower was specifically excluded. I can’t really fault Nissan for my experience with them. They put a brand new engine in my xterra under a power train claim. My total bill was 38 bucks for a new engine. That was for the oil change. I started to raise hell about that because the oil they were supposed to change was in the engine they took out. After a few brief seconds of contemplation I just paid and got out of there before they changed their minds. Might have something to do with me seeing the bill for the engine and labor that got sent to Nissan

The Datsuns were garbage, but to be fair so was the Vega and many other domestic vehicles from that era. The Cimarron was a disaster.
