This New Jersey student’s unconventional approach to applying for college paid off for him.

On his Stanford University application, Ziad Ahmed was posed the question “What matters to you, and why?”

The 18-year-old activist from Princeton, New Jersey, decided to use the opportunity to write “#BlackLivesMatter” 100 times.

To his surprise, the answer caught the attention of the California school’s admissions office and Ahmed received his acceptance letter on Friday.

“I didn’t think I would get admitted to Stanford at all, but it’s quite refreshing to see that they view my unapologetic activism as an asset rather than a liability,” Ahmed told Mic.

He shared his acceptance letter and application on Twitter, where it quickly went viral.

Ahmed, who is Muslim, said on Twitter that he hopes to use his time in college to continue to support the Black Lives Matter movement.

He achieved his goal. Stanford is as hard an admission as there is. Pretty creative is you ask me.
It's no more creative than the old story about the kid who had to write 500 words about his summer vacation: I saw a bear, so I ran and ran and ran ...

Stanford can admit who they want, and maybe there are really good reasons outside of this to admit this kid. I don't see the creativity of the BLM part of his application.

Puts egg on their face.

Meanwhile kids like this deserve more publicity.

Why are Republicans concerned about this? One person said "Mission Accomplished" and got him reelected president.......[winking]

Let me tell you how warped libs in academia are. My daughter graduated from Plano West High School, a very good school in Texas (e.g. I was on the Plano Education Foundation Board and we have been rated as high as second in the nation for the most number of National Merit Scholars). The valedictorian graduated with a 4.5 GPA (the highest possible) and scored a perfect score on his SAT. He was not athletic but still participated in outside activities in school and the community (e.g. band member). Stanford TURNED HIM DOWN (he is white). This kid gets in for this stupid and juvenile answer on his application. Something is very, very wrong with this picture.

Tell us what the academic accomplishments are for the kid who was accepted who you're offended about. I'll hang up and listen.

I don't know, nor does it matter. He can't possibly have a higher GPA or test scores. Chances are, he did not achieve either since both are very, very rare.
He got it over the Plano kid and he gave a ridiculous answer to an important application question. If that does not say anything to you, then it tells me you are blinded by ideology or simply not very bright.

So, you don't know this NJ kid.....but you know for a FACT that he didn't have a 4.5 GPA nor scored a perfect score on his SAT........I'm confused......I thought you didn't know the NJ kid? So, what you are saying is that you are using your OPINION and it's blinded you and made you furious......

Apparently, one of the most prestigious universities in the country (once headed by Condi Rice, btw) disagrees with you and agrees with me. I think that says more about you than it does me. Moron.

You, as usual, either could not comprehend my post or simply misinterpreted. I posted this:

He can't possibly have a higher GPA or test scores.

This is absolutely true. Since the Plano kid had a PERFECT GPA and a PERFECT SAT score, the other kid could not have done better, right?

This is not that hard to understand.

Apparently the NJ kid did better on the narrative answer part of the application or the Plano kid was weak on his extracurriculars, who knows.

No, it says far more about the admissions office at one of the most liberal campuses in the country. Reward the kid for his Black Lives Matter stupidity. Again, the other kid (whose academic record was perfect) was denied. Too bad that kid did not have a social justice warrior cause to promote or he too would have been admitted.

Right, keep going with that. The kld is a social justice warrior. Thus application accepted even with that ridiculous answer on the application.

Yea, he is a Muslim liberal Democrat. His anti-American Democrat breathers love this idiocy. If it would have been a white student that said White Lives Matter, or Blue Live Matter, they would have denounced them as a racists, Islamaphobe bigot. sick, these college administrators wonder why they can't control the mob.

Muslim haters unite!

No, wrong again my friend. Does it get tiresome being so wrong, so often? My wife is Lebanese and Syrian. Nice try. I hang around more Muslims that you likely have known in your life. This is not about Muslims. It is all about social justice warriors.

About as stupid as electing a guy to be POTUS that says "grab 'em by the *****".

Or a guy that raped and assaulted women and paid $850,000 to make the woman he assaulted whole again. An icon in the Dem party. Revered. Our first black President. Slick Willy.

First off, only poor people can protest?

Secondly, do you remember the Civil Rights Movement? Dr. King had whites with him......but what did whites know about the atrocities committed back then? :(

In 2013, Princeton Day School was the 12th ranked private school in the United States. It offers courses at a higher level than most public schools can't. For example, they offer 2 years of math above a 2-year sequence in Calculus. The majority of their teachers could be professors. It's a college for high school kids. I think his answer to the question was ridiculous. He also probably has an academic record that beats almost any public high school graduate'school in subjects that are more advanced than those available to public high school kids.

In the example I provided, the student had a perfect GPA, a perfect SAT score in one of the very finest public school systems in Texas and I believe across the nation. It is a very wealthy school district with an extremely broad curriculum. Here is the status on perfect SAT scores:

According to the College Board's SATPercentile Ranking Data[1], 382 college-bound seniors scored 2400 in 2010. Yes. Every year at least several hundred students (out of several million test takers) receive perfect scores, which irks the College Board people I'm sure.

So clearly his performance and his aptitude were off the charts. The only difference I can see is that he is not a social justice warrior and he is a white male.

You do know they look beyond grades right?
