Tell me why I'm wrong, here goes...

1. Homewood-Flossmoor... most explosive team in the state!
2. Neuqua Valley... emerging as DVC's most dominate team.
3. Lincoln-Way East... went toe-to-toe with HF, plus they have 110 players.
4. Loyola... win over MS looking less impressive after MS loses to Barrington.
5. Glenbard West... top defense ever, and their JV team hasn't lost since 1968
6. Brother Rice... remaining games with MC and Loyola will sort things out.
7. Mt. Carmel... Loyola only barometer so far, but hung right with them.
8. Glenbard North... wishes they could have that WV game back, built for the playoffs.
9. East Side Louis... weak schedule makes it hard to judge, nice wins first two weeks.
10. Barrington... beat MS by more that Loyola, does that mean anything?

The main flaw I see is HF is great but their out of conf opponents are 1-4 and 1-3. LWE out of conference opponents are 2-2 and 2-3 with one of the wins are against as SWC team which is the conf ESL is in. Considering those facts, why are you impressed with HF and LWE wins more so than LA, MC, ESL and Brother Rice. You also mentioned GBW who beat BB at 2-2 and three teams that are 1-3 yet, LA win over MS is less impressive and ESL is hard to tell because of weak schedule.

Yes, absolutely. HF is killing everybody, not just winning. They beat a loaded LWE, who exploded past Bolingbrook, who gave GW a close game. Loyola barely got past MS, who just lost by two TDs to Barrington. Am I supposed to be impressed with MC's wins over Taft, Gary West, and DePaul? Who has MC beaten? Brother Rice win over Montini less impressive now that we know Montini is down. As I said... CCL Blue will sort itself out, and all three teams are really good, no question.

I like it!! Especially the Play on "The Force"

We have: "The Light Side Rankings" LSR.
And we have "The Dark Side Rankings" DSR

Me Personally,... I would have
  • #1 Loyola - until someone beats them - they #1 in 8A
  • #2 HF - crazy good and also very deep with talent - what else is there to say?
  • #3 GBW - until someone beats them - they #1 in 7A. Love their D - I would have liked to have seen more 'O" in their early matchups. Not sure they could score enough to win against LA or HF and that's the only reason I don't have them #2.
  • #4 Neuqua:eek: - Got to give love to NV - all though if I had to a place money wager - I would take GBN to beat NV 7+ out of 10 times. We will find out what actually happens week 9.!! Until then GBN below NV
  • #5 Brother Rice - they play LA and CCL blue will sort itself out like you say. If they beat LA - I would jump them to #1 and don't care that people would throw tomatoes at me or revoke my posting privileges.
  • #6 LWE: only loss to HF and had them on the ropes but let it slip away.
  • #7 Mount Carmel - they still have BR on their schedule!
  • #8 GBN - NN still to play and it's THIS WEEK at NN!! (one of my 5 interesting games of Week Five) Plus the big showdown week 9 with the Wildcats.
  • #9 ESL - I'm feeling they should be higher and get more love - but honestly I don't know anything about them other than they had two impressive wins in the first two games and then it's feasting time. Edwardsville game might be the last test for ESL until playoffs.
  • #10 - I have Palatine: What about the win vs.Stevie? Stevie beat a top 10 Michgan power and I don't think Stevie getting enough love due to their questionable mid season schedule. Palatine offense top notch and I know it's last year but they gave a better 2015 Loyola team all they could handle last year. Palatine might be better this year. Stevie has Libertyville coming up which should be interesting and will also help us with a measuring stick with Batavia..
  • #11 - Barrington - Ready to pounce should NV stumble to NN or if GBN stumbles to NN. Wait!!?!! If that happens - that means NN should be pushing for a top 10 Ranking!! - this is much harder than it looks from the peanut gallery!!!

Hehehe. I know the feeling! It sure is a very interesting game!

* how will GBN react to the DVC version of Oregon up tempo offense and the new spread offense that was installed? GBN has more than a couple guys playing both ways - do they sub them out and give them a breather on offense or try to do it on D with the quick play? If it's close... 4th quarter could be very very interesting.

* how does NN respond to and attempt to contain Maurice Jones Drew... Err.. I mean Mr. Tricase. If they find a way to slow down MJD Err... VT.. Does NN have the pass D and/or pass rush to mitigate all those super receivers?

Should be very very interesting!!

So let me get this straight, LWE beat BB who's only wins were against two 0-4 teams in which one of those teams it took overtime to win. That is somehow better than an undefeated LA, Rice, ESL, Barrington and GBW. wow. So I will list the teams in order with their signature wins thus far.

HF beat 3-1 LWE and 3-1 Lockport.
NV beat 2-2 WV and 2-2 Naperville Central
LW beat 2-2 BW and 2-2 BB
LA beat 3-1 MC, 4-1 Wisc team and 2-2 MS
GW beat 2-2 BB
Rice beat 3-1 Marist and 2-2 Create
MC no good win but lost to LA by 7
GBN beat 2-2 NC
ESL beat 4-1 CBC only two loses in the past three years is ESL and Championship LY ,2-2 PC, 2-2 GCY
Barrington beat 3-1 Evanston, 2-2 MS and 2-2 Mt Prospect

Based on the above information, this has to be a list of your favorite teams and not top teams to this point. You punish LA for a close game with MS who's other lost is to undefeated Barrington however you praise LWE for losing by 5 to HF and beating 2-2 BB. NV number 2 is more of a conference pick versus anything else. Right now, there is no way a 3-1 team should be ranked higher than any 4-0 team especial when their wins are against teams that are .500 or below.

You just don't understand... LWE has 110 players, that trumps everything.

Should be a good game, GBN has been giving up some big pass plays so far this year, many have been later in the game which could be related to playing guys both ways (Newsome, James and Henderson) but some were also when the game was in hand and the 2nd stringers were playing. Still don't understand how they lost that WV game (prevent defense anyone?!?) but personally I think that was a good wake-up game. If they don't give up the big pass plays GBN gets the win and should get to Week 9 with the DVC conference on the line with NV. Big plays = Big Win for NN unless Tricase gets his 3rd straight week of 6 TD's, no one's come close to stopping him yet.

Good stuff GoGBN2013!!

Wow I actually feel a little better... WV held him To only 4TD's!! Moral victory? ;);)

The big 2 questions are:

1 what is the over under on his regular season TD total? 35? Remember he sits in the second half of the blowout games.

2 what is the over under on his regular season rushing yards? 1400 yards? Remember he sits in the second half of the blowout games

35 actually is a pretty good number but Justin Jackson had 38 his senior year so maybe he's shooting for that? VT was sitting for a little bit in the WWS game but then they got a little too close so Wilkens brought him back in and he got one more. Hey Vittorio, get 6 TD's and you can rest, thanks Coach Wilkens! I would actually prefer to see this go under and have Conway pass a little bit more to get the passing game some reps but that's not going to happen, GBN football has always been about running the football and if you can't stop Tricase you may only see a handful of passes.

Would have to go a little higher, he has 94, 243, 179 & 267 so far, 195 yd average X 5 + 783 = 1758 Maybe 1500 for over/under? WWS and Thornton pretty weak so that's pumped up his totals a little bit at this point. If he averages 150 he would end up at 1533, we could say 1450 and call it a day...
