I had the night off so to speak, since my Gladiators don't play until Saturday night, so I waited patiently for the End Zone to see who had done what. No big surprises in the games they reported on, other than one that was possibly closer than expected.

That would be the Fort Defiance at Rockbridge County game. Fort entered that one on a three-game winning streak, but the Cats were probably still the favorite. However the Indians had a 10-7 lead in the fourth before RC pulled it out 14-10.

In other games of interest, East Rock rolled 49-6 over Page, Luray won a 56-35 shootout over Wilson, TA routed Waynesboro 34-7, Harrisonburg took Broadway 35-7, and Spotswood beat William Fleming 37-15. Those are the only ones I remember.

I wasn't there so don't know, but going by scores, I dont know that I would call the Luray and Wilson game a shootout. It was 42-14 at half. And 49-21 after 3

I really expected Page to score more than 6. East Rock's defense is really clicking. Look out!

To clarify, when I use the term "shootout", I interpret it to mean that there was a lot of scoring, as opposed to it being a defensive minded game. But maybe to you, a shootout means a close game that goes down to the wire. Tomatoes/potatoes......

I read that the Wilson-Luray game was close for a while before the turnover bug hit and Luray really stretched that lead out

On a side note, when was the last year the Shenandoah didn’t have a team in Salem? Looking like East Rock could continue that tradition this year

I think of a shootout as being a close game with lots of scoring.

Well I am surprised Lee gave up 14 to Stonewall who actually had a chance to tie late in the game. I understand Lee was missing one player and had another leave the game early but wow. This year has been really strange so far in the district with more to come I am sure.

I have to agree with you!

Lee is one of those type of teams that's going to be unpredictable from week to week, it seems.

Missing Lawler was a huge loss for Lee in the game today.

But Lee's defense is what needs to turn around if they have any hopes for post-season.
